Regular meeting of the City Council: Austin, Texas, Sept 28th 1916: The Council was called to order by the Mayor with all members present: Mayor Wooldridge offered the following resolution: Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas: That the sum of two hundred and fifty ($ 250.00) dollars, be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the General Contingent Fund of the City of Austin, Texas, in payment of one-half of the compensation due A L Green, for preparing ordinances for the City of Austin, Texas. Whereas, in the original survey of the Ward Addition in the Thos Gray survey, a twenty foot alley running north and south was platted though the center of so-called blocks 5, 6, 7 & 8, situated on the south side of 38th street between Tom Green and Grooms streets, and Whereas, said blocks actually constitute but one block, so far as street boundaries are concerned, there being no streets running through them, and Whereas, said alley has never been actually opened or used, and the said blocks have no improvements upon them and are all owned by the same party who finds the present arrangement undesirable, and Whereas, the proposed changed arrangement will conform more nearly to the arrangement of streets and alleys in the blocks to the south, and will facilitate the extension of water and sewer pipes through them, Therefore, Be it resolved that the said platted 20 feet alley be and the same is hereby closed, and in lieu thereof 2 20 feet alleys running east and west through these blocks be substituted therefor, in accordance with plat herewith, and
