Regular meeting of the City Council: Austin,Texas, January 25, 1917: The Council was called to order by the Mayor: Roll called: Present Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Absent none: The minutes of the last regular and subsequent recessed meetings were read and Adopted: Unfinished business: Report of City Engineers. The Mayor laid before the Council a resolution approving City Engineers report concerning improvements upon Guadelupe street, in this City, from the north property line of 24th street to the north property line of 27th street, which had been read on the 18th day of January and laid over for one week. The resolution was read and adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none: Drivers' licenses. The following applications for Drivers licenses of service cars was presented: Geo Quinton, 902 E 3rd street Ben Hendrickson, 702 W 9th street. The licenses were granted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none: Report of Sanitary Inspection The Mayor laid before the Council the reports of the Asst City Clerk & the Treasurer for Dec 1916, also the annua report of the Sanitary Inspector, which was read and filed. Fines Belle Wolf. Miner Wood. On motion of Councilman Anthony, fines in the Recorders Court against Belle Wolf and Miner Wood, were remitted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none: January 31st 1917. All present: Drivers' licenses The following applications for drivers licenses ,for service cars, were presented, read and licenses granted, viz: Fred Joyce, 1619 E 1st street, D Garner, 1705 Eva street. Councilman Powell offered the following resolution: Whereas, the Supt of Streets and Public Improvements has filed his report with the Bridge - E 15 St. New City Council to the effect that Hugo Brueggermann has completed the construction of an additional concrete arch bridge across Waller creek on east 15th street, under contract with the City ,and that said work has been fully done in strict accordance with said con-tract and the plans and specifications adopted by the City Council . Now therefore, Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas : That the said work of improvement be finally accepted by the City and that final estimate due by the City to said contractor be paid. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none, Approved. A P Wooldridge, Mayor.

710 January 22nd 1917:
The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution: Whereas, in view of the facts set forth in the attached affidavit of G M Shipe, Secretary of the M K & T Land Co of Austin, Texas, that J A Paddleford rendered for City taxes for 1915, Lots 23 & 24, Block 1 Hyde Park Addition No2, City of Austin, Texas, and at the same time rendered personal property in the amount of nine hundred ($900.00) dollars ;and Whereas, it appears from the same affidavit ,which the City Council believes to be correct, that the said J A Paddleford did not own said Lots 23 & 24 ,Block 1, Hyde Park Addition No 2, City of Austin, Texas, for the year 1915; and Whereas, the said M K & T Land Company desires to pay the taxes on said Lots 23 & 24, Block 1 Hyde Park Addition No 2, XXXXXXXXXXX City of Austin, Texas, but not the taxes on the personal property assessed against the said J A Paddleford in connexion with said lots 23 & 24, Block No 1 Hyde Park Addition No 2, as they are in no sense a proper charge against said property, Now, Therefore, Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas : That the charge of taxes against said personal property of the said J A Paddleford for the year 1915 be and the same are hereby declared to be no lien on said property and not a proper charge against the same ,and the Assessor & Col -lector of the City of Austin, Texas, be and he is hereby authorized to accept of the said M K & T Land Company the taxes on lots 23 & 24 ,Block 1 Hyde Park Addition No 2, for the year 1915, and to look alone to the said J A Paddleford for the taxes on his personal property for the year 1915. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none.

January 30th 1917: All present: The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution: Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas : That a permit is hereby granted to the Hup Motor Sales Company to install and maintain a 180 gallon Gasoline Tank to be approved by the Supt of Police and Public Safety under the sidewalk in front of No 112 East 10th street in the City of Austin, Texas. Resolved further: That in connexion with this gasoline tank hereby authorized to be installe -ed the said Hup Motor Sales Company is likewise authorized to install and maintain a one gallon gasoline pump to be located at the curb line in front of No 112 East 10th street in a position th be designated by the Supt of Streets and Public Improvements ,said gasoline pump to be of the most modern and approved construction and design and subject to the approval of the Supt of Police and Public Safety. 711 .That the said Hup Motor Sales Company shall install and maintain at the top of and upon the gasoline pump hereby authorized an electric light of not less than 40 watt power and placed in a globe of not less than 10 inches in diameter,which electric light must be kept illuminated ,not less than three hours daily ,between the hours of six & 12 O'clock P M ,during the existence of this permit. Resolved further: That the hose through which air, water, gasoline or any other oil or volatile substance is conveyed by pumping or other wise from the store ho use at 112 East 10th str street or from the pump hereby authorized to be placed in front of same ,must be kept when not in actual use neatly coiled and stored in receptacle proved for such hose in the pump authorized to be installed,or suspended from a suitable bracket attached to the pump. Resolved further: That the work under this resolution authorized to be installed and maintainedmust be installed and maintained ,where not otherwise assigned, under the immediate supervis-ion of the City Engineer of Austin,Texas, who is hereby authorized to prescribe necessary specifications for the work herein authorized to be done. Resolved further, and finally: This permit is granted only for the installation of a gasoline tank and pump and does not include the installation or construction of a storage box for hose underneath the sidewalk and this permit is granted and must be accepted as revocable at any time atthe pleasure of the City Council. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony ,Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor. Councilman Anthony presented the following resolution: Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin,Texas : That for good and sufficient causes unto the City Council moving the fine and costs in the case of the State of Texasvs Eugene Loveless No 11580, in the Corporation Court of the City of Austin,Texas, for vagrancy are reduced from $ 50.00 to $ 14.80. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor. The Council then adjourned.
