712 Bul. Feb. 1917 Road & Line Gulf Refining Co Gasoline Tanks . .Regular meeting of the City Council : Austin,Texas, Feby 1st 1917: The Council was called to order by the Mayor ,with all memberspresent: The minutes of the last regular and subsequent recessed meetings were read and adopted: The Mayor laid before the Council his Budget for the year 1917, which was read thefirst time and laid over for one week. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas : That a permit is hereby granted to the Gulf Refining Company to install and maintain a 280 gallon gasoline tank to be approved by the Supt of Police and public safety ,under the sidewalk in front of No 404 Congress Avenue,in the City of Austin,Texas. Resolved further: That in connection with this gasoline tank hereby authorized to be installed ,the said Gulf Refining company is likewise authorized to install and maintain a gasoline pump to be located at the curb line in front of No 404 Congress Avenue ,in a position to be designated by the Supt of Streets and Public Improvements ,said gasoline pump to be of the most modern and approved construction and design and subject to the approval of the Sup of Police and Public Safety. Resolved further: That the said Gulf Refining company shall install and maintain at the top of and upon the gasoline pump hereby authorized an electric light of notless than 40 Watt power and placed in a globe not less than 10 inches diameter which electric light must be kept illuminated not less than three hours daily, between the hours of 6 and 12 O'clock P M ,during the existence of this permit. Resolved further: That the hose through which air, Water, Gasoline or other oil or volatile substance is conveyed by pumping or otherwise from the store house at 404 Congress Avenue or from the pump hereby authorized to be placed in front of same ,must be kept when not in actual use neatly coiled and stored in a receptacle provided for such hose in the pump authorized to be installed,or suspended from a suitable bracket attached to the pump. Z N X X X X Resolved further: That the work under this resolution authorized to be installed and maintained must be installed and maintained ,where not otherwise assigned, under the immediate supervision of the City Engineer of Austin, Texas, who is hereby authorized to prescribe necessary specifications for the work herein author-ized to be done. This permit is granted only for the installation of a gasoline tank and pump and does not include the installation or construction of a storage box for hose underneath the sidewalk and this permit is granted and must be accepted as revocable at any time at the pleasure of the City Council. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none, Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor. Paving West Ave approved, The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas: That, West Avenue from 6th to 19th streets be and the same is hereby ordered paved with some character of pavement to be determined upon by the City Council, and, Be it further resolved , That the Supt of Streets and Public Improvements be and he is hereby authorized to take necessary legal steps to put this resolution into effect. The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none, Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor. Councilman Powell offered the following resolution: Whereas, the Supt of Streets and Public Improvements has filed his report with the Paving Rio Grande City Council. to the effect that the Texas Bitulithic Company has completed the work of st accepteď paving and improving Rio Grande street from the north line of 6th street to the south line of 19th street , under contr act with the City of Austin, and that said work has been fully done in strict accordance with said contract and specifications adopted by the City Council . Now, therefore. Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas: That, the said work of improvement be accepted by the City and that the final estimate due by the City to said company be paid. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none, Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor. February 2nd 1917: All present: Councilman Anthony ,Supt Police and Public Safety, nominated the following persons for the positions named, viz : L P Meyer L P Meyer ,to be Motorcycle man L E Loden L E Loden, to be Patrolman Lewis Mayfield Lewis Mayfield to be Patrolman .
