License Driver Wm North Gallery .Regular meeting of the City Council: Austin, Texas, Feby 15th 1917: The Council was called to order by the Mayor, with all members present: The minutes of the last regular and subsequent recessed meetings are read and adopted: Reports of City Officers: The Mayor laid before the Council the report of the Supt of the Water & Light Dept and that of H B Barnhart ,Collector for the Sanitary Dept, which were read and ordered filed: Councilman Anthony presented an application from A W Baker,229 E 3rd street for license as driver of service car, which was granted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none: Mayor Wooldridge offered the following resolution : Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas : That William F North ,owner of the south portion of Lot No 1 Block No 79,of the City of Austin, Texas, which lot is at the northwest corner of the intersection of West 7th street and San Antonio streets in this City, be and he is hereby authorized to construct a two-story gallery about 8 feet broad by 35 feet longon the south side of the, FOURStoppk and brick house located on said premises at the north west corner of west 7th and San Antonio streets in this City, and Resolved further: That the petition of the said William F North which is the basis of this permit, is ordered filed and the particulars as set forth. In said petition are declared to be the consideration moving the City Council to the permit herein and hereby granted. 725 February 16th 1917: All present: Councilman Powell offered the following resolution: Resolution ordering the improvement of a certain part of West Avenue in the City of Austin and approving specifications, proposal, contract and bond therefor: The resolution was read the first time and laid over for one week: Feby 17th 1917: All present: The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution: Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas: That a permit be and is hereby granted to W H Richardson of this City to erect a shed on the south one-half of block 59, City of Austin, Texas, which shed is to be about 50 feet in width , erected upon iron supports and with a galvanized iron roof. The strips to which the galvanized iron is to be attached are permitted to be of wood. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor: Application of Carl Langston for license as driver of service car was presented, and license granted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none: The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution: Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas: That the Supt of Streets and Public Improvements be and he is hereby instructed to proceed at once to have the sidewalk excavated and the necessary work done, in the way of constructing retaining walls and steps to finish at a proper grade, the sidewalk from the lot east of the First Baptist Church to Congress Avenue on the north side of 18th street between Colorado street and Congress Avenue in this City. Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor: Feby 21st, 1917: Councilman Powell offered the following resolution: Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas: That Mr W R Caswell be and he is hereby granted permission to construct a sewer catch basin on the sidewalk adjacent to his premises on Nueces street just south of its inter-section with Guadalupe street, and, Be it further resolved: That this work shall be done subject to the provisions of the plumbing ordinance of this City and under the supervision of the Plumbing Inspector, and Be it resolved further and finally: That this permit is temporary and is revocable at any time at the pleasure of the City Council.
