Regular meeting of the City Council: Austin,Texas, May 31, 1917: The Council,was called to order by the Mayor : Roll called : Present Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Absent None: On motion the reading of the minutes of the last regular and subsequent 'meetings,was postponed until the next regular Meeting:
Repotrs of City Officers: The Mayor laid before the Council the report of the Supt of the Water & Light Plant & the City Engineer for the month of April 1917, which were ordered filed; Resignation Ed Smith Councilman Anthony presented the resignation of Ed Smith as Patrolman of Policeman the City, which was accepted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none: resigned ounhisdha&nonaynmmanshadofchbydeenhengelowSragPatrolman,Vioe,EdSMith Clyde Jennings Councilman Anthony nominated Clyde Jennings to be Patrolman,vice,Ed Smith appt. as Policeman resigned,which nomination was confirmed by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Not voting Councilman Anthony 1 Lon King Councilman Anthony nominated Lon King to be Dog Catcher for the season beginnig appt. Councilman Powell offered the following resolution : Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin,Texas: That the sum of $ 49.84,be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the Paving Guadalupe Permanent street Improvement fund to pay the City's one-fifth of the cost of St. property assmt paving in front of Mr L N Goldbecks propertyon Guadalupe street north of the north line of Guadalupe street. Councilman Anthony offered the following resolution : Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin,Texas : That for good and sufficient causes unto the City Council shown,the fine and costs, amounting to $ 19.80,imposed against Thomas Garrett, in cause No 11960,State of Texas vs Thomas Garrett,in the Corporation Court of the City of Austin,Texas, for speeding,be and the same are hereby remitted. That E C Bartholomew, Supt of Parks and Public Propertyof the City of Austin, Texas, be and he is hereby authorizedto purchase for the use of his departmentone Indiana Truck at the price of $ 1,465.00 ,delivered in Austin, Texas.
