788 .Regular meeting of the City Council: Austin, Texas, June 07, 1917: The Council was called to order by the Mayor : Roll Called: Present Mayor Wooldridge ,Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Absent none: The minutes of the last two regular meetings ,with OKINNK Adjourned meetings were read and adopted : Reports of City Officers: The Mayor laid before the Council the report of the Assessor & Collector, the Public Weigher, The Secretary United Charities, and the Plumbing Inspector, which were read and ordered filed: Fine &c Kreisle remitted Councilman Anthony offered the following resolution : Whereas, it appears from the information derived from Police Officer, Ed Nitschke, and from the verbal recommendation made to the Mayor of thid City by A S Phelps, Asst City Attorney, it appears that there might have been a mistake in the imposition of a penalty upon E C Kreisle in cause No 11954, in the Corporation Court of the City of Austin, Texas, Now, therefore, Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas : That the fine and costs in this cause, amounting to $ 19.80,be and the same same are hereby remitted. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none, Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor. Guy Holder Fine remitted On motion of Councilman Anthony, the fine and costs assessed against Guy Holder in the Recorders Court were remitted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none, Driver licenses Councilman Anthony presented petitions from the following named persons for licenses as drivers of service cars, viz: Ed L Borders , 55 East Avenue Barney Blount, 417 Congress Avenue. The licenses were granted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilman Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. Transfer Powell Councilman Powell offered the following resolution : Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas: That the sum of $ 12.00, be transferred from the Sewer fund to the Sanitary Sewer Earnings fund to correct an error ,see warrants Nos 1008 & 1009. Be it further resolved that the City Treasurer and book-keeper be and they are hereby authorized and instructed to make said transfer. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none, Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor. --- Page break --- 789 .The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution : Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas : that the sum of onehundred and four dollars and fifty eight cents (ยข 104.50) erroneously charged to the general fund ,but properly belonging to the Park fund,be and the same is hereby transferred from the Park fund to the general fund to reimburse said amount ,as above stated, erroneously charged against the general fund. The resolution was adopted by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none, Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor. Transfer funds. Councilman Powell offered the following resolution : Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas : That the sum of $ 27.50, be and the same is hereby ordered transferred from the general street improvement fund to the Permanent street fund to correct an error caused by the City tax Collector depositing this amount to the general street fund when it should have been deposited to the Permanent street fund . Be it further resolved: That the City Treasurer and book-keeper be and they are hereby instructed to make said transfer. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen XXXXXX, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell, B.4 Absent Councilman Anthony 1 Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor. Fine Due Stebney remitted Councilman Anthony offered the following resolution : Whereas, it appears from the attached statement of W S Walsh that Tom Stbney ,colored, was fined in cause No 11739, in the Corporation Court of the City of Austin, Texas, for gaming,in the amount of $ 19.80; and Whereas, the said Tom Stbney ,Colored,has paid of this amount the sum of $ 11.50,leaving a balance due of $ 8.30; and Whereas, the said Tom Stebney, colored, died on the 24th day of May past and can no longer continue to pay the monthly installments due upon his hiring bond ,upon which W S Walsh, was a surety. Now Therefore, Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas : That in consideration of the extreme equities of the case,the balance of the fine and costs in this case,amounting to $ 8.30,be and the same is hereby remitted. The following resolution,which purports to have been passed by the City Council on the 1st day day of March 1917, was handed to the City Clerk ,or filed in this Office sometime during the month of June 1917,and is here recorded. Approved by council Be it resolved by by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas : That the sum of $ 36.66, be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the Permanent Street Improvement fund - not otherwise appropriated, to pay Mr Wallace R Miller for the paving of the extension of the alley between Lavacca and Guadalupe streets between 6th to 7th streets: The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 7 Nays none, Paving alley Lavaca & Guadeloupe Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor. --- Page break --- 791 Councilman Powell offered the following resolution: Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin,Texas: That P S Spiller, Cashier of the Sewer Earnings fund be instructed and authorized to refund to Jno L Martin the sum of $ 4.50.which was paid twice as sewer inspection fees, see plumbing permits // 2174, 2175, 2217 & 2219. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none, Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor.
