Reports of City Officers: The Mayor laid before the Council the following reports which were read and ordered filed:
The City Marshal, the City Health Officer, the Sexton, City Engineer, H B Barnhart, special Attorney, Municipal Orohester, On motion of Councilman Anthony, the fine and costs assessed against A W Whitten for reckless driving, amounting to $ 19.80 ,was remitted by the followingvote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none:

The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution: Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, that the petition of J W Ebner for permission to hang electric signs at 103 East 7th street, and 203 West 6th street, be granted, same having been investigated and favorably reported on by W L Eyres, City Sign Inspector. This permit is granted subject to revocatin at the pleasure of the City Council .
The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none:
Prem. Bond Chester Thrasher City Treasurer
The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution: Whereas, on December 23rd 1915, Chester Thrasher ,as Treasurer of the City of Austin, executed to the City of Austin his bond in the sum of two hundred thousand ($ 200,000.00) dollars, with the American Surety Company as surety, said bond being required and given to secure the City of Austin in the safe keeping and disbursement of monies received by said Treasurer from the sale of Street, Sewer and other City bonds ; and Whereas, substantially all of said money has been legally withdrawn and disbursed by the City of Austin prior to December 23rd 1915, and was no longer in the custody of said Treasurer ,and he was no longer legally responsible therefor: ad and Whereas, on December 23rd 1915, said Treasurer by mistake renewed said bondin the sum of two hundred thousand ($ 200.000.00) dollars, with said American Surety Company as surety thereon, and paid the premium for such renewal in the sum of Eight hundred dollars($800.00); and Whereas, it is the desire of the City Council of the City of Austin to assist said Treasurer to obtain repayment of the renewal payment so paid by him; Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas, that the said Chester Thrasher as principal, and the American Surety Company as surety, be and each of them is hereby released from all liability of every kind whatever to the

June 16th 1917; All present : Councilman Powell offered the following resolution : Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas : That the Supt of Streets and Public Improvements be and he is hereby authorized to construct a six inch extension to the sanitary sewer line through the alley between Congress Avenue and Eva street beginning at Annie street and extending south-ward a distan of two blocks at a cost of approximately $ 300.00, said amount to be paid out of appropri-ations already made for labor and material for the sanitary sewer department. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none, Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor.

Councilman Powell offered the following resolution: Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas : That the Supt of streets and public improvements be and he is hereby authorized to construct a six inch sewer line on Gibson street from Eva street west to and across Newton street at a cost of approximately $ 150.00, in order to furnish sewerage service for the new building being constructed for the State Deaf & Dumb Intitute .This work to be paid for out of appropriations already made for labor and material for the sanitary sewer department . The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor.

To the City of Austin, Texas:
As provided in said ordinance , I hereby accept Section 34 of that certain telephone merger ordinance adopted by a vote of the people of Austn on January 4th 1917, entitled as follows: " An ordinance authorizing and providing for the consolidation of the local Telephone Exchange at Austin, Texas, of Ross Larabee, same being generally known as the Austin Exchange of the United Telephone Company, with the local Telephone Exchange of the Southwestern Telegraph and Telephone Company, and for the purchase of the said property of said Ross Larabee by the Southwestern Telegraph and Telephone Company , and fixing the terms upon whichthe consent of the City of Austin to such purchaseand consolidation is given and grannting to the Southwestern Telegraph and Telephone Company a franchise in the City of Austin and repealing any prior rights and privileges, if any, of said Company and also the franchise of the said Ross Larabee".
