40. Regular meeting of the City Council : Austin, Texas. Sept 5th 1917: The Council was called to order by the Mayor: Roll called: Present Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Absent none: The minutes of the last regular and subsequent recessed meetings were read and adopted: Reports of City Officers: The Mayor laid before the Council the reports e the Assessor & Collector, the Sexton, the Public Weigher, the Inspector of Weights and Measures, the City Engineer & the Plumbing Inspector, which were read and filed: Councilman Anthony nominated Grover Griffin and A B enham to be Hosemen, which nominations were confirmed by the following vote : Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 4 Not voting Councilman Anthony 1 Walter Hearn On motion of Councilman Anthony, the Chief of the Fire Dept was directed to services dispensed notify Walter Hearn, that his services as hoseman in the Fire Dept would not with be needed after October 1 st 1917; The motion was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none: Sept 7th 1917: All present : Councilman Anthony nominated Geo S Bailey to be Patrolman, which nomination was confirmed by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 4 Not voting Councilman Anthony 1. Sept 10th 1917: All present : L. Leatherman The Mayor laid before the Council a petition from L Leatherman, in regard to Time extended sewer connection, which was read and on motion time was granted him until Sewer Connection January 1st 1918, in which to make connection, by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none: D.J. Fallon Application of D J Fallon for license as driver of service car was presented Driver License and license granted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none: Councilman Anthony offered the following resolution : Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas : Clara Brown That upon recommendation of the prosecuting Attorney, Mr. A.S Phelps, fine remitted the case against Clara Brown in the Corporation Court of the City of Austin, Texas, No 13201 be and the same is hereby ordered dismissed. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilman Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none. E. Vasques Councilman Anthony offered the following resolution : fine remitted Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas : That for good and sufficient causes unto the City Council shown, the fine and costs amounting to $ 10.30, in cause No 13194, State of Texas vs Enacio Vasques in the Corporation Court of the City of Austin, Texas, for --- Page break --- . intixication be and the same is hereby remitted: The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomee, Haynes & Powell 7 Nays none: The Council then adjourned.
