Regular meeting of the City Council Austin, Tex as, November 15, 1917: The Council was called to order by the Mayor ,with all members Present: The minutes of the last regular and subsequent recessed meetings were read and adopted:
Reports of City Officers: The Mayor laid before the Council the report of the City Engineer and the Chief of the Fire Dept for the month of October 1917, which were read and ordered filed:
On motion of Councilman Anthony, sentinences in Recorders Court against Suspended Sen- tences: Willie Wofford and O Wheeler, were suspended during good behaviour. Willie Wofford O. Wheeler Mayor Wooldridge offered the following resolution: Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas: That the sum of two hundred sixty two dollars and fifty cents $ 262.50) 50 cords wood be an d the same is hereby appropriated out of the general contingent fund Charity Dpt. of this City and set apart for the purchase of fifty cords of wood for the promo. charity department of this City , at the rate of $ 5.25 per cord. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Council men Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Fowel Nays none, Mayor Wooldridge offered an ordinance ordering an election to obtain the Ordinance consent of the qualified voters of the City of Austin, Texas, who pay taxe Calling for election on property within the limits of said City to issue of bonds by the City Council for the purposes of (1) taking up ,cancelling and in lieu of outstanding school warrants of the City of Austin; (2) Constructing and installing a sewer disposal plant for the City og Austin ;(3) Iproving and remodeling the City Hospital of the City of Austin: The ordinance was read the first time ,and a motion made to suspend the rule and place it on its second reading, which motion prevailed by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell Nays none: The ordinance was read the second time: Councilman Bartholomew moved to amend the ordinance , by striking out in proposition No 3, the sum of $ 25,000.00, and inserting in lieu thereof $ 15.000.00, The amendment was lost by the following vote: Yea Councilman Bartholomew 1 Nays Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Haynes & Powell 4: A motion was then made to suspend therule and place the ordinance on its third reading and final passage, which motion prevailed by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes and Powell 5 Nays none. The ordinance was then read the third time and passed by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell Nays none.

November 16th 1917: All present: Councilman Anthony nominated Mr C E Hart ,to be a special Policeman of the City of Austin, which nomination was confirmed by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 4 Not voting Councilman Anthony. 1 Application of Chas Stovell for license as driver of service car was presented and license granted by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 5 Nays none.
Chas. Stovell Drivers license November 17th 1917: All present: Councilman Anthony nominated C S Reeves to be Special Policeman, without pay, which nomination was confirmed by the following vote: Yeas Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 4 Not voting Councirman Anthony 1
C. S. Reeves Special Police man November 20th 1917:All present: Councilman Powell offered the following resolution : A resolution adopting the line for sidewalks on the East side of West Avenue between 6th and 19th streets. Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas: That the sidewalks on the east side of West Avenue between 6th and 19th streets shall be the same alignment as the present walks on the east side of West Avenue between 6th and 7 thestreets .and , Be it further resolved: That the west edge of the sidewalks on the east side of West Avenue between 9th and 19th streets shall be two feet from the east curb line of West Avenue. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes & Powell 4 Nays Mayor Wooldridge. 1 Approved, A P Wooldridge, Mayor.
Sidewalk line West Avenue bet. 6 + 19 sts November 21st 1917: All present: Mayor Wooldridge offered the following resolution : Whereas, it is the duty of Committies as well as individuls to patriotically aid this Country in its great war with Germany whenever it can possibly do so: and Whereas, at the present itme the City of Austin has in what is known as the Cemetery Purchase fund more than $ 3,000.00. of idle and uninvested funds not likely to be used for some months or a year or more at least; and Whereas ,the Liberty bonds of the United Statespresent to this Council the highest form of secured investment that can be gotten for any ofXXXs. this City's funds, and at the present time afford a better rate than this City is now receiving in the way if in terest upon its daily balances: and Whereas ,this resolution was not heretofore past nor this appropriation heretofore made through an oversight upon the part of the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas. Now therefore, Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas : That three thousand ($3,000.00) dollars, of the Cemetery Purchase fund of this City be and the same are hereby appropriated to the purchase of Liberty bonds ,and Be it further resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas: That the effect of this resolution be and the same is hereby made retroactive and made
