SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, April 20, 1918. The Council met with all members present except Councilman Bartholomew. H. D. Davidson: Councilman Anthony nominated H. D. Davidson to be a special policeman Special Policeman without pay. The nomination was confirmed by the following vote: Yeas--Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Haynes and Powell, 3; Mr. Anthony not voting. SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, April 24, 1918. The Council met for the purpose of giving a hearing to S. J. Look on the question whether his two applications for public S. J. Look: service car licenses should be granted. Witnesses pro and con were placed on License refused. the stand and examined on behalf of the city by A. S. Phelps, Assistant City Attorney, and by Mr. Look in person. He testified in his own behalf. At the conclusion of the hearing, the motion to grant the licenses failed by the following vote: Yeas--Councilmen Haynes and Powell, 2; nays,--Mayor Wooldridge, Coun- cilmen Anthony and Bartholomew, 3. Councilman Anthony nominated R. G. Shelton to be a special policeman R. G. Shelton: without pay. The nomination was confirmed by the following vote: Yeas--Mayor Special Policeman Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Haynes, and Powell, 4; Councilman Anthony not voting. The Council then adjourned.
