The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas--Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes, and Powell, 5; nays none. APPROVED, May 2, 1918: A. P. Wooldridge, Mayor. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution: RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the assessment of a Kissel automobile against L. M. Clifford for taxes of 1917 at $500.00 be and the same is hereby reduced to $250.00. This reduction is made after hearing the statement of the said L. M. Clifford, who de- clares that the automobile in question was a second-hand one and really not worth one-half of the figure at which it was assessed. The resolution was adopted by a vote of 5 yeas, no nays. APPROVED, May 2, 1918: A. P. Wooldridge, Mayor. The report of the Assessor and Collector of Taxes for April was read and ordered filed. SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, May 4, 1918. The Council met with all members present. The Mayor laid before the Council the application for public service car license of William Thomas Patton, 2110 Oldham street, on a 7-passenger Cadillac touring car, No. 233440. The application was granted by a vote of 5 yeas. The Mayor offered the following resolution: RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS: That Congress Avenue from Fifth to Seventh Streets, and Sixth Street from Colorado to Brazos Streets, be and the same are hereby ordered to be vacated from vehicles of all sorts standing or moving thereon from 12:15 P. M. to 12:45 P. M., of Sunday, May 5th, 1918. This is for the purpose of helping to celebrate the Third Liberty Loan victory for Travis County when it obtained more than its quota of the amount assessed for the county, the amount obtained approximating $1,500,000.00.
