268 SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, May 06, 1918. The Council met with all members present. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution; Whereas, it appears from the attached affidavit of W. T. W.T. Hammond on account Hammond that Paul O. Simms, his agent, made an error when he assessed the improvements on Lot No. 7, Block 12, Outlot 19, Division "O", at $450.00 as of the 1st of January, 1917, when as a matter of fact no improvements existed on said Lot No. 7, Block 12, Outlot 19, Division "O", of the City of Austin, Texas, on January 1st, 1917; and Whereas, it appears that W. T. Hammond in error paid to the City of Austin taxes on improvements in the amount of $9.45. Now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS: I. That said assessment of improvements on Lot No. 7, Block 12, Outlot 19, Division "O", in the amount of $450.00 for the year 1917 be and the same is hereby ordered to be cancelled and annulled. II. That $9.45 be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the General Contingent Fund of the City of Austin, Texas, to reimburse the said W. T. Hammond for taxes paid by him on the improve- ments hereinabove described in the amount of $450.00. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: YeasMayor Woolbridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes, and Powell; 5; nays none. APPROVED, May 6, 1918: A. P. Woolbridge, Mayor. The Mayor laid before the Council the application of Roy Roy Hough License granted Hough, 205 West 15th street, for public service car license on a 7-passenger Reo car, No. 132176. The license was granted by a vote of 5 yeas, no nays. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution: RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS: J.W. Maxwell for That the sum of $556.70 be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the General Contingent Fund of the City of Austin, Texas, in compensation of attorney's fees due to J. W. Maxwell for collecting delinquent taxes on personal property in this city, being the amount of taxes due the City of Austin by the Commonwealth Bonding & Casualty Insurance Company of Phoenix, Arizona, said company now being in the hands of a receiver at Fort Worth, Texas, per attached list which is made the basis of this appropriation.
