273 Appr. for food conservation Sign RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS: That One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the General Contingent Fund of the City of Austin, Texas, to pay the bill of G. Flury for erecting a food conservation sign on the Postoffice grounds, east of the main entrance of the Postoffice in this city. This sign is in the interest of food conservation chiefly during the war. The resolution was adopted by a vote of 3 yeas, no nays, Councilmen Bartholomew and Powell not being present when the vote was taken. The following statement, signed by Councilman Powell, was laid before the Council and ordered recorded: Austin, Texas, May 9th, 1918. To the Hon. Mayor and City Council, City of Austin, Texas. Gentlemen: On the 2nd day of May, A. D. 1918, the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas, passed a resolution the caption of which is as follows: "Resolution approving City Engineer's report concerning improvements upon West Sixteenth Street, in this city, from the west property line of Congress Avenue to the east property line of Lavaca Street, and directing a hearing to property owners concerning the assessment of a part of the cost of such improvements against them and their property, fixing a time for said hearing and direct- ing that a notice be given to said property owners concerning the said hearing." And I beg to report and certify that in accordance with said resolution Certification of publication of notice of street paving hearing that said notice of hearing (which was to be before the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas, in the Mayor's office at the City Hall, on the 16th day of May, A. D. 1918, at ten o'clock A. M.) was published in the Austin American, a daily paper of general circulation, in the City of Austin, on the 7th and also on the 8th of May, A. D. 1918.
