274 SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, May 14, 1918.
The Council met with all members present. The Mayor offered the following resolution: Whereas, it is within the knowledge of this Council that many of the public improvements such as streets, sidewalks, sewer mains, gas mains, water mains, electric light and power wires and tarviated roads were built in, about and through Enfield Addition subsequent to the 1st day of January, 1917, which public improvements were a chief cause in enhancing the values of the properties of said Enfield Addition, Enfield Addition assessments Now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS: That in recognition of this fact and with a view of equalizing property values in Enfield Addition with these subsequent con- ditions of improvements, the lots named below are here rated for taxation purposes at the amounts named below for the year 1917:

The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution: RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS: That the Superintendent of Streets and Public Improvements of the City Forwarding of Dista. st. authorized. of Austin, Texas, be and he is hereby authorized and instructed to contract with the Finley Method Company to tarviate with trap rock 7/8" in size for covering material and 7/10 gallons of tarvia per square yard as Bitumen, State or 34th Street from where it intersects Guadalupe Street to the city limits in the direction of Camp Mabry. The price to be paid for said work is to be 26½¢ per square yard for original treatment and 7½¢ per square yard for each re-treatment. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas--Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes, and Powell, 5; nays none. APPROVED, May 14, 1918: A. P. Wooldridge, Mayor.
The Mayor laid before the Council applications for public service car licenses as follows: Denver c.ov Lic---- G. E. Martin, 1412 Canterbury street: 5 passenger Overland, No. 132406. W. M. Bargeley, 101 Congress avenue: 5 passenger Mitchell, No. 131546. R. Louis Routt, 2000 Red River street: Studebaker touring car, No. 132908. Each was granted by a vote of 5 yeas, no nays.
