To Public Health Powell, 4; nays none; Councilman Anthony not voting. - By a vote of 5 yeas the Council granted the application of Ray Griffin, 406 Rio Grande street, for a service car license on his Overland car, No. 220526. The Mayor offered the following resolution: RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS: That the sum of One Thousand Five Hundred Dollars be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the General Contingent Fund of this city and credited to the account of "Public Health". The resolution was adopted by a vote of 5 yeas, no nays. APPROVED, May 16, 1918: A. P. Wooldridge, Mayor. The Mayor offered the following resolution: # 500 approp. for RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS: Bacteriologist That the sum of Five Hundred Twenty-five Dollars ($525.00), or so much Salary thereof as may be necessary, be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the surplus earnings of the Water and Light Department of the City of Austin, Texas, to pay for the services of a professional bacteriologist to daily analyze the drinking and other domestic water of this city, together with the making of the analyses of milk from time to time as the public health of this city may seem to require. This appropriation is payable at the rate of not exceeding $75.00 per month, beginning June 1st, 1918. The resolution was adopted by a vote of 5 yeas, no nays. APPROVED, May 16, 1918: A. P. The Council met with all members present except Councilman Anthony. Councilman Bartholomew offered the following resolution: RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the Superintendent of Parks and Public Property of the City of Austin, Texas, be and he is hereby authorized to purchase 10,000 lbs. of No. 2 W. P. wire at 32c per lb., to construct a main electric feeder line from Fifth and San Antonio Streets to 34th Street and Guadalupe Street for supplying energy to Camp Mabry, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: Purchase of That the sum of Three Thousand, Two Hundred Dollars ($3,200.00) be and 10,000 lbs. Wire the same is hereby appropriated out of the Earnings Fund of the Water, Light and Camp Mabry Power Department to pay for same.
