Councilman Bartholomew offered the following resolution: RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS: That the contract heretofore entered into between the City of Austin and Mrs. Annie B. Myrick, lessee of the Barton Springs property adjacent to this city and owned by the City of Austin, and dated April 4th, 1918, be and the same is hereby modified in the following particular, to-wit: That the said Mrs. Annie B. Myrick shall be permitted, and she is hereby authorized and permitted, as lessee of said Barton Springs property, to charge a fee for bathing privileges to those who may bathe in Barton Springs from the pool above the large spring to what is known as the old mill property, something like two hundred (200) feet down the creek from the large spring, at the rate of ten (10) cents for adults and five (5) cents for children under twelve years of age, but it is understood that no additional charge shall be made by the said Mrs. Annie B. Myrick to those who may use the lockers on the Barton Springs property, and people are to be permitted to use said lockers in the turn and order in which they may apply for same. The resolution was adopted by a vote of 5 yeas, no nays. APPROVED, June 1, 1918; A. P. Wooldridge, Mayor. The Council then adjourned. U. S. Martin City Clerk SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, June 3, 1918. The Council met with all members present. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution: RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS: That Twenty-five Cents ($.25) be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the General Contingent Fund of the City of Austin, Texas, as a refund to Sam T. Hill on dog license No. 291 overpaid by him. The resolution was adopted by a vote of 5 yeas, no nays. APPROVED, June 3, 1918; A. P. Wooldridge, Mayor. The Council then adjourned. U. S. Martin City Clerk SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, June 4, 1918. The Council met with all members present. The Mayor read the report of R. H. Cousins, United States labor agent for this city, for the month of May, and the report was ordered filed. The Mayor offered the following resolution: RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS: That the sum of One Hundred Fifty Dollars ($150.00) be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the General Contingent Fund of the City of Austin, Texas, in payment of the salary for the months of May and June, 1918, for R. H. Cousins, United States Labor Agent. The resolution was adopted by a vote of 5 yeas, no nays. --- Page break --- APPROVED, June 4, 1918; A. P. Wooldridge, Mayor. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS: That a permit is hereby granted to Mr. J. V. Maory to install and maintain a gasoline tank, to be approved by the Superintendent of Police and Public Safety, under the sidewalk in front of his place of business at No. 1001 Red River Street, in the City of Austin, Texas. RESOLVED FURTHER: That in connection with this gasoline tank hereby authorized to be installed, Mr. J. V. Maory is likewise authorized to install and maintain a gasoline pump, to be located at the curb line in front of No. 1001 Red River Street, in a position to be designated by the Superintendent of Streets and Public Improvements, said gasoline pump to be of the most modern and approved construction and design and subject to the approval of the Superintendent of Police and Public Safety. RESOLVED FURTHER: That Mr. J. V. Maory shall install and maintain at the top of and upon the gasoline pump hereby authorized, an electric light of not less than 40 watt power and placed in a globe of not less than 10 inches in diameter, which electric light must be kept illuminated not less than three hours daily, between the hours of six and twelve o'clock P. M., during the existence of this permit. RESOLVED FURTHER: That the hose through which air, gasoline or any volatile substance is conveyed, by pumping or otherwise, from the storehouse at No. 1001 Red River Street, or from the tank authorized to be placed in front of same, must be kept, when not in actual use, neatly coiled, and stored in a receptacle provided for such hose authorized to be installed or suspended from a suitable bracket attached to the pump. RESOLVED FURTHER: That the work under this resolution authorized to be installed and maintained must be installed and maintained, where not otherwise assigned, under the immediate supervision of the City Engineer of Austin, Texas, who is hereby authorized to prescribe necessary specifications for the work herein authorized to be done. RESOLVED FURTHER AND FINALLY: That this permit is granted only for the installation of a gasoline tank and pump and does not include the installation or construction of a storage box for hose underneath the sidewalk and that this permit is granted and must be accepted as revocable at any time in the pleasure of the City Council. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas, Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes, and Powell. 5; nays none. APPROVED, June 4, 1918; A. P. Wooldridge, Mayor.
