The resolution was adopted by a vote of 5 yeas, no nays. APPROVED, June 6, 1918; A. P. Wooldridge, Mayor. The Mayor read to the Council a proposed statement to the voters of the city relative to the type of sewage disposal plant to be adopted in the event of the proposed bond issue carrying on June 18. The Council then adjourned. V. E. Martin City Clerk SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, June 7, 1918. RFD No. 1, Austin, Texas, The Mayor laid before the Council the application of G. R. Middleton/for public service car license on his Ford automobile, Factory Number 2441387 (no State Highway Department number given), which was granted by a vote of 4 yeas, no nays, Councilman Haynes being absent. The application of the Liberty Motor Bus Company, Camp Mabry, Texas, for public service car license on a Nash machine, No. 27694, was likewise granted by unanimous vote. The Council then adjourned. V. E. Martin City Clerk SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, June 8, 1918. The Mayor laid before the Council the application of Mrs. H. H. Leonard, 1101 Trinity street, for public service car license on her Ford car, No. 70812, which was granted by a vote of 5 yeas, no nays. V. E. Martin City Clerk SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, June 11, 1918. The Council met with all members present except Councilman Haynes. Councilman Anthony nominated T. J. Cole to be a motorcycle policeman. The nomination was confirmed by the following vote: Yeas, Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew and Powell, 3; Councilman Anthony not voting. The Council then adjourned. V. E. Martin City Clerk --- Page break --- REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, June 13, 1918. The meeting was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following present: Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, and Powell, 4; absent, Councilman Haynes, 1. The minutes of June 6 and subsequent meetings were read and adopted by a vote of 4 yeas, no nays. The Mayor read the report of T. W. Ray, City Bacteriologist, concerning samples of water collected June 10. He also read a letter from H. W. Lewis of Smithville, a member of the State Council of Defence, stressing the importance of the continued maintenance of a labor employment bureau by the City of Austin. A special report of C. L. Woodward, Fire Chief, relating to his attendance at the international convention of Fire Chiefs, held at Chicago June 4, 5 and 6, as a delegate from Austin, was read, and Mr. Woodward supplemented his written report with a verbal one. The Mayor laid before the Council "An ordinance to amend an ordinance entitled "An ordinance defining 'food products' and 'food products establishments', requiring a permit for the operation of such establishments, providing for sanitary regulations of the same, and prescribing penalties," passed by the City Council on May 30, 1918, by adding thereto Section 53, relating to penalties for the violation of said ordinance." The ordinance was read the first time, after which reading the Mayor moved that the rules be suspended and the ordinance placed on its second reading. The motion carried by the following vote: Yeas, Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, and Powell, 4; nays none; Councilman Haynes being absent. After the second reading, the Mayor moved that the rule be further suspended and the ordinance be placed on its third reading. The motion prevailed by a vote of 4 yeas, no nays. The ordinance was read the third time, and the Mayor then moved its final passage. The motion carried by the following vote: Yeas, Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, and Powell, 4; nays none; Councilman Haynes being absent. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution: RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That for the purpose of giving an amateur entertainment the School of Military Aeronautics of the University of Texas be and it is hereby authorized to close the street in front of the school grounds, to-wit, Eighteenth street from East avenue to Red River street, during the hours from 8 to 10:30 o'clock on the night of Saturday, June 15, 1918. The resolution was adopted by a vote of 4 yeas, no nays. APPROVED, June 13, 1918: A. P. Wooldridge, Mayor. The question of refunding certain amounts advanced by C. Wendlandt, W. A. Pillow and F. H.
