16 The Council then adjourned. V. S. Martin, City Clerk SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, June 26, 1918. The Council met with all members present. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution: RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS: That the sum of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the surplus funds in the Water and Light Department in this city to pay the interest from January 1st, 1918, to July 1st, 1918, on the outstanding sewer certificates of this city. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas, Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes, and Powell, 5; nays none. APPROVED, June 26, 1918: A. P. Wooldridge, Mayor. The Council then adjourned. V. S. Martin, City Clerk REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, June 27, 1918. The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following present: Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes, and Powell, 5; absent none. The minutes of June 13 and subsequent meetings were read and adopted by a vote of 5 yeas, no nays. Captain L. Theo. Bellmont of the School of Military Aeronautics was before the Council and explained a plan formulated by the three local military schools for enforcing fair charges to men in khaki by service car drivers. The plan was given the approval of the Council. The following applications for public service car licenses were laid before the Council by the Mayor: Buford Hall, 4404 Avenue B, Ford car, No. 220527; J. S. McMillan, 4305 Avenue C, Ford car, No. 187521; Robert F. Jones, 1015 Willow street, Buick car, No. 184273. Each of the licenses applied for was granted by a vote of 5 yeas, no nays. The Mayor read a communication from V. M. Ehlers, State Sanitary Engineer, relating to the trash dump on South Congress avenue. The report of J. W. Kay, City Bacteriologist, for June 23; the report of the Fire Chief and that of the United Charities for May; a special report of the Plumbing Inspector enumerating persons who had failed and refused to make sewer connections; the reports of the Water and Light and Street and Sewer Departments for May; and a special report of the City Engineer relating to proposed modifications of the plans for a sewage disposal plant, were read and ordered filed.
