24 SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, July 13, 1918. The Council met with all members present except Councilman Powell. Councilman Anthony nominated T. H. Heaton to be a special policeman without pay. The nomination was confirmed by the following vote: Yeas, Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew and Haynes, 3; Councilman Anthony not voting. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution: RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS: That the sum of One Dollar and Twenty-five Cents ($1.25) be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the General Contingent Fund of the City of Austin, Texas, and made payable to Ben P. Turner, per W. B. Anthony, as a refund for Peddler's License No. 2052, issued by the City of Austin to the said Ben P. Turner, and dated July 9th, 1918. The resolution was adopted by a vote of 4 yeas, no nays. APPROVED JULY 13, 1918: A. P. Wooldridge, Mayor. The Council then adjourned.

SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, July 16, 1918. The Mayor laid before the Council the application of W. T. Patton for public service car license on his Overland car, No. 133017, which was granted by a vote of 5 yeas, no nays.

SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, July 17, 1918. The Council met at 12 o'clock, noon, for the purpose of opening bids on $100,000.00 of Sewage Disposal Plant Bonds, pursuant to advertisement. All members were present, also the representatives of several bond buying concerns. Bids were opened as follows: Weil, Roth & Co., Cincinnati, par and accrued interest less $2400.00 to cover expenses; J. C. Mayer & Co., Cincinnati, par and accrued interest less $750.00 for expenses; John Nuveen & Co., Chicago, $100,075.00 and accrued interest less $590.00; Bolger, Losser & Willaman, Chicago, par and accrued interest less $2500.00 (no certified check inclosed); Elston & Co., Chicago, par and accrued interest less $1346.00; H. A. Wroe, Austin, par and accrued interest less $982.00; Taylor, Ewart & Co., Chicago, and William R. Compton Company, St. Louis, par and accrued interest less $2137.00; Halsey, Stuart & Co., Chicago, par and accrued interest less $1680.00. On motion of Mayor Wooldridge seconded by Councilman Bartholomew the vote being as follows: Yeas, Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes, and Powell, 5; nays none.
