Taxi Permit Reinstated:
Taxi operator Sid Look successfully had his permit for "Public Service Car No. 38" reinstated after it was previously canceled. However, he was prohibited from obtaining any additional permits for the remainder of 1918.Unpaid Special Policeman Appointed:
A. P. Barnes was confirmed as a special policeman, notably serving in the role without pay.

52 38 be revoked, Now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS: That the resolution passed on the 15th day of August, 1918, cancelling the permit to the said Sid Look to drive said Public Service Cars Nos. 38 and 39 be reconsidered and revoked so far as Pub- lic Service Car No. 38 is concerned, and which Public Service Car No. 38 is hereby reinstated in its right to be operated as a public service car in this city under the terms of the original permit granted to the said Sid Look, owner of same. It is, however, expressly stipulated that no additional permit or permits will be granted to the said Sid Look to drive any additional public service car, over and above Public Service Car No. 38, during the balance of the calendar year 1918. The resolution was adopted by a vote of 4 yeas, no nays; Councilman Anthony not being present when the vote was taken. APPROVED, August 29, 1918; A. P. Wooldridge, Mayor. The Council then adjourned. SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, August 31, 1918. The Council met with all members present. Councilman Anthony A. P. Barnes Special Policeman nominated A. P. Barnes to be a special policeman without pay. The nomination was confirmed by the following vote: Yeas, Mayor Woolridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Maynes, and Powell, 4; Councilman Anthony not voting.
