78 SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, Oct. 15, 1918.
The Council met with all members present except Councilman Powell. Hearing re 6. cent fares postponed The hearing set for this day to determine certain points in connection with the proposal to increase street car fares to 6 cents was postponed until Friday, Oct. 18, owing to the inability of Councilman Powell to be present. The Mayor offered the following resolution: RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS: Financial slackers not to be considered in letting contract That at the bidding for the construction of the sewage disposal works of this city to be had on the 31st of October, 1918, no bid offered by any person, firm or corporation who shall be shown to be a financial slacker in the report of the Committee for the Fourth Liberty Loan of the United States Government shall be considered by this Council. The resolution was adopted by a vote of 4 yeas, no nays, Councilman Powell being absent. APPROVED, Oct.15, 1918: A. P. Wooldridge, Mayor. The Council then adjourned.
