95 REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, Nov. 21, 1918.
The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following present: Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes, and Powell, 5; absent none. The minutes of November 14 and November 20 were read, and approved by a vote of 5 yeas, no nays. After discussion of the matter of the City Auditorium or Tabernacle with R. F. Bacon and R. L. Bewley of the Retail Merchants Association the Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution: Approved. RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS: in private That the sum of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) be and the same is contribu- hereby appropriated out of the General Contingent Fund of the City of Austions to construc- tin, Texas, and made payable to the Retail Merchants' Association of thistion of Taber- city, as a refund and payment in full and complete discharge of all innacle for City indebtedness of every character and description that the City of Austin is Auditorium under to the Retail Merchants' Association and certain gentlemen associated with them in this city in the joint ownership on the part of the Retail Merchants' Association and their associates with the City of Austin of the Auditorium building on the public square at the corner of Fifth and Guadalupe streets in this city. This appropriation is made with the express stipulation on the part of the city that said Retail Merchants' Association will in accepting this sum, agree to settle all outstanding claims of every character and description against the City of Austin by reason of the joint ownership on the part of the said Retail Merchants' Association and certain persons whom it may represent, with the City of Austin in the tabernacle building in this city. The resolution was adopted by a vote of 5 yeas, no nays. APPROVED, Nov. 21, 1918: A. P. Wooldridge, Mayor. James F. Moore of the War Camp Community Service was present and discussed with the Mayor the matter of cooperation in the preparation of a patriotic musical program for the afternoon of Thanksgiving day. There was laid before the Council a petition of the Oriental Oil Company for the privilege of erecting a filling station on the property known as the Wolf Estate "in the southeast corner of Block Second and Congress avenue," and the Council voted by 5 yeas, no nays, to grant the permit. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution: RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS: Miss Mae Logan That, in pursuance of the request of Miss Mae Logan, and in purPermit Can- suance of the request of her aunt and guardian, Mrs. A. C. Ellis, both of celled which requests are attached hereto and made the basis of this resolution, Permit No. 120, to drive a public service car, heretofore issued on the 17th day of August, 1918, to Mrs. A.
