100 REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL; Austin, Texas, Dec. 5, 1918. The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following present: Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Haynes, and Powell, 4; absent, Councilman Anthony, 1. The minutes of November 21 and subsequent meetings were read, and approved by a vote of 4 yeas, no nays. Councilman Haynes offered the following resolution: Whereas, there is assessed against Leon Davis, for taxes of the year 1917, a motor boat, at the value of $100.00; and Leon Davis Assessment cancelled Whereas, the said Leon Davis now makes affidavit (attached hereto) and says that said assessment was made in error, he having traded said motor boat, prior to Jan. 1, 1917, to Frank Howard for two lots in Hyde Park Addition, which lots are also assessed by said Leon Davis; therefore RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That said assessment of a motor boat against said Leon Davis be and the same is hereby cancelled and annulled. The resolution was passed by a vote of 4 yeas, no nays. APPROVED, Dec. 5, 1918: A. P. Wooldridge, Mayor. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution: RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS: Appro for School Fund's share of That the sum of Fifty-five Dollars and Three Cents ($55.03) be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the General Contingent Fund of the City of Austin, Texas, in payment of the amount due and owing by the Assessor and Collector of this city for the School Fund's share of interest and penalties collected on taxes during the month of November, 1918. An itemized statement of the amount owing under this appropriation is attached hereto, dated December 2nd, 1918, and cer- tified as correct by Fred Sterzing, Assessor and Collector, and made the basis of this appropriation. The resolution was adopted by a vote of 4 yeas, no nays. APPROVED, Dec. 5, 1918: A. P. Wooldridge, Mayor. Ord. amnd. "Food Products" ord. The Mayor laid before the Council "An ordinance amending Section 13 of an ordinance entitled 'An ordinance defining food products and food products establishments, requiring a permit for the operation of such establishments, providing for sanitary regulations of same, and prescribing penalties.'" The ordinance was read the first time and the Mayor moved a suspension of the rule and the placing of it on its second reading. The motion prevailed by a vote of 4 yeas, no nays, and the ordinance was read the second time. The Mayor then moved a further suspension of the rule and the placing of it on its third reading. The motion carried by 4 yeas and no nays, and when the ordinance had been read the third time the Mayor moved its final passage. The motion carried by the following vote: Yeas, Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Bartholomew, Haynes, and Powell, 4; Councilman Anthony being absent.

The Council met with all members present. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution: RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS: That the sum of Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00), or so much thereof as may prove to be necessary, be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the General Contingent Fund of the City of Austin, Texas, as an additional appropriation for the salaries of extra help in making up tax rolls and assessing. The resolution was adopted by a vote of 5 yeas, no nays. APPROVED, Dec. 7, 1918: A. P. Wooldridge, Mayor. The following resolution was laid before the Council: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS: That the Hirshfeld Estate be and the same is hereby given a permit to erect a frame chain awning to be constructed in strict conformity with the city specifications governing the erection of awnings within the business district of the City of Austin. The resolution was passed by a vote of 5 yeas, no nays. APPROVED, Dec. 7, 1918: A. P. Wooldridge, Mayor. The Council then adjourned.
