Fire marshal Ordinance Amended The Mayor laid before the Council "An ordinance amending Section six of an ordinance entitled 'An ordinance creating the office of Fire Marshal, prescribing the duties thereof and prescribing penalties for violations,' passed by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas, June 9th, 1910." The ordinance was read the first time, after which the Mayor moved a suspension of the rule and the placing of the ordinance upon its second reading. The motion prevailed by a vote of 5 yeas, no nays. After the ordinance had been read the second time, the Mayor moved a further suspension of the rule and the placing of it on its third reading. This motion carried by a vote of 5 yeas, no nays. When the ordinance had been read the third time, the Mayor moved its final passage, the motion prevailing by the following vote: Yeas, Mayor Wooldridge, Councilman Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes, and Powell, 5; nays none. The Council then adjourned. E. Martin City Clerk SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, Dec. 20, 1918. The Council met with all members present. Councilman Anthony offered the following resolution: C. B. Coffield Fine RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the unpaid balance of the fine and costs ($50.00 fine and $14.80 costs) assessed against C. B. Coffield for vagrancy in Cause No. 13156, Corporation Court of this city, said balance amounting to $50.80, be and the same is hereby remitted. This action is taken, upon the recommendation of the Assistant City Attorney, because of the youth of the said Coffield and the existence of mitigating circumstances in his case. Also, it is believed that, having worked out $14.00 of the said fine and costs, the young man has been sufficiently punished. The resolution was adopted by a vote of 5 yeas, no nays.
