163 REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL; Austin, Texas, Mar. 13, 1919. The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following present: Mayor Wooldridge, Councilmen Anthony, Martholomew, Haynes, and Powell. 5; absent none. Reports The minutes of March 6, 7, 8 and 11 were read, and were adopted by a vote of 5 yeas, no nays. The February reports of the City Sexton, United Charities Secretary, Municipal Nurse, Fire Marshal, Fire Chief, Assessor and Collector, Chief of Police, Food Inspector, and City Physician were read and ordered filed. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution: Rice & Dorman shows. Colorado St. vacated RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS: That chiefly as an assistance to Company "E", Ninth Infantry, of the Texas National Guard, Colorado Street from Eleventh to Thirteenth Streets in this city be and the same is hereby vacated and closed against the general commercial use, traffic and occupancy of the public in favor of the Rice & Dorman Shows from Sunday morning, March 16th, 1919, to Sunday morning, March 23rd, 1919. The resolution was passed by a vote of 5 yeas, no nays. APPROVED, Mar. 13, 1919: A. P. Wooldridge, Mayor. Councilman Powell offered the following resolution: Contract for Pumps for Sewage Dis- posal Plant RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS: That the contract for pumps for the sewage disposal plant of the City of Austin, Texas, is hereby awarded to R. B. Everett & Company of Houston, Texas, agents for Lea Courtenay, as follows: Two 2 1/2-million gallon pumps for the price of $715.00 each f. o. b. cars at the factory, and One 1-million gallon Lea Courtenay pump for the price of $525.00 f. o. b. cars at the factory. The resolution was adopted by a vote of 5 yeas, no nays. APPROVED, Mar. 13, 1919: A. P. Wooldridge, Mayor. Petition A petition for the installation of street lights in Enfield Addition, signed by numerous residents of that addition, was read and referred to Councilman Bartholomew. There was laid before the Council the following resolution: Francis Nilsson 13. 16. 19. RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the attached petition of Francis Nilsson for a permit to erect a small iron building, to be used as a workshop, on the alley next west of Congress Avenue, between Eighth and Ninth Streets, be and the same is hereby granted. The resolution was adopted by a vote of 5 yeas, no nays. APPROVED, Mar. 13, 1919: A. P. Wooldridge, Mayor. The Mayor laid before the Council the following resolution: RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS: That the following named persons are hereby appointed, for the period of two years from and after the date of the adoption of this resolution, as judges and clerks respectively for all municipal elections in the City of Austin, Texas, for the several wards of the City of Austin, --- Page break --- 164 Judges and Clerks of Election as hereinafter named, and the places named below are hereby established as voting places of the City of Austin, Texas, for municipal elections.
