of the State University in this city, and in recognition of his other public services, the public roadway from the International & Great Northern Railway crossing at the western extension of West Sixth Street to the site of the Austin Dam in the City of Austin, Texas, be and the same is hereby named and shall hereafter be perpetually known and called Wooldridge Avenue. When he had finished reading the foregoing resolution, Mr. Bartholomew spoke in terms of praise of Mayor Wooldridge, and in particular referred to the pleasant associations of the ten years during which he and Mr. Wooldridge and Mr. Powell had served together in the Council. Councilmen Haynes and Anthony seconded the motion to adopt, and expressed their pleasure at being able to vote for such a resolution. Mr. Powell before ordering the roll call addressed the Council, expressing his high estimate of the services rendered by Mr. Wooldridge to the City of Austin and his pleasure at having been associated with him during the past ten years. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes, and Powell, 4; Mayor Wooldridge not voting. APPROVED, Apr. 3, 1919: P. W. Powell, Mayor Pro Tem. Mayor Wooldridge expressed feelingly his gratitude to his colleagues for this compliment paid him, and commented on the harmony and good-will that had prevailed in the Council, in spite of occasional differences of opinion, during the whole time of his service as Mayor. "Wooldridge" "Avenue" to be "Dam Boulevard" on U.S. 471. Councilman Haynes offered the following resolution: RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the City Engineer and the City Assessor and Collector be and they are hereby instructed to correct all their maps of the city by substituting for "Dam Boulevard" the name "Wooldridge Avenue" to describe the extension of West Sixth Street from the point where it crosses the I. & G. N. Railroad to the Austin Dam. The resolution was adopted by the following vote: Yeas, Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes, and Powell, 4; Mayor Wooldridge not voting. APPROVED, Apr. 3, 1919: P. W. Powell, Mayor Pro Tem. Afternoon Session. Mayor Wooldridge presiding. Councilman P. W. Powell moved to reconsider the motion of the City Council taken on Mar. 28, 1919, ordering sidewalk and curbing to be put down on the north side of Fifth Street between San An- tonio and Nueces Streets in this city. On this motion Mayor Wooldridge voted nay and Councilmen Anthony, Bartholomew, Haynes, and Powell yea. Jos Anderson There was laid before the Council the following resolution: reduced Whereas, 62x220 feet out of the northwest corner and 59½x220 feet out of the southeast corner of Lot No.. 4, Block No. 4, Outlot 34/46, Division "O" of the Welch Subdivision of this city are, in the judgment of the City Council, overassessed by comparison with the adjacent similarly situated property by the amount of Fifty Dollars ($50.00) in each instance, or One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) altogether, Now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS: That the assessment fixed against said 62x220 feet out of the northwest corner and also the assessment against the said 59½x220 feet out of the southeast corner of Lot No. 4, Block No. 4, Outlot 34/46, Division "O" of Welch's Subdivision be cancelled as excessive, and the Assessor and Collector is hereby instructed to make credits on the assessment of said special pieces of property in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
