REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL:
Austin, Texas, May 15, 1919.
The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward.
The Minutes of May 8th and 9th were read and were approved by a vote of 5 yeas; no nays.
The bonds of Fred Sterzing, Assessor and Collector, and Eugene T. Smith, Cashier of the Water, Light and Power Department, were approved and ordered filed.
Upon motion of Councilman Haynes, seconded by Councilman Ward, the petition of W. D. Shelley, et al.,was granted, ½ Holiday to employees a half holiday on Saturday afternoons, City Employees beginning June 1st, 1919, and ending September 15th, 1919. The motion carried by a vote of 5 yeas; no nays.
Councilman Alford moved that the pound fee, amounting to $1.50, paid by Mrs. Shooter, Refund of be refunded. Motion prevailed by a vote of 5 yeas; Pound Fee no nays.
Mayor Yett moved that the petition of Milton Morris as Chairman of Travis County Prohibition Campaign Committee, to have public speaking on certain streets of the City of Austin, be granted. Motion carried by a vote of 5 yeas; no nays.
Motion In order by Councilman Graham, duly seconded by Councilman Haynes, that they might extend a welcome to the that all city employees Home Coming of our Soldiers be granted a half holiday on May 16th, 1919. Λ Motion carried by a vote of 5 yeas; no nays.
Councilman Alford Dr S A Woolsey nominated Dr. S. A. Woolsey to be City Physician, City Physician term of office effective from June 1st, 1919. Nomination was confirmed by the following vote: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Graham, Haynes and Ward. Councilman Alford not voting.
Mayor Pro tem. Mayor Yett nominated Councilman Haynes to be mayor pro tem. The Councilman Haynes nomination was confirmed by the following vote: Councilmen Alford, Graham, and Ward. Mayor Yett and Councilman Haynes not voting.
Council then adjourned.
