219 REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL:
Austin, Texas, May 22, 1919.
The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward; absent none. Councilman Haynes moved that the reading of the Minutes be suspended and that Ex-Mayor Wooldridge be heard. The motion prevailed by a vote of 5 yeas; no nays. A. P. Wooldridge introduced the following resolution: RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS: That the State Association of Texas Bankers be and it is hereby cordially invited to hold its annual convention for the year 1920 in this city, and RESOLVED FURTHER: That should the State Bankers Association accept this invitation, the City Council here places at the disposal of the Texas Bankers on this anticipated and desired occasion all of the attractions of this Capital City, and in addition thereto, pledges to the Bankers of Texas when they become our guests, the unstinted hospitality of our people.

The resolution was adopted by a vote of 5 yeas; no nays. APPROVED: May 22nd, 1919: W. D. Yett, Mayor. The Minutes of May 15th, 1919, were then read. Councilman Graham moved that the Minutes be corrected showing that the half holiday was granted to city employees in order that they could extend a welcome to our returned soldiers. Upon the correction being made, the Minutes were approved by a vote of 5 yeas; no nays. Councilman Graham moved that the request of the Committee of Ladies representing the French Orphans Association and the Settlement J Commission Town Club Commission to which Carnival. Club be given permission to use one block on any street between Seventh Street and Eleventh Street for the purpose of holding a carnival. The motion carried by a vote of 5 yeas; no nays. At the request of the Ladies Committee, Councilman Ward moved that the City furnish light on said occasion. The motion carried by a vote of 5 yeas; no nays. The petition of R. W. Thompson, et al, was read and referred to Petition of R.W. Thompson et al. the City Attorney for his opinion. The report of the Board of Directors of the United Charities and also the report of the Municipal Nurse were read and ordered filed. Councilman Graham introduced the following resolution: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the sum of Three Hundred and Twenty-five Dollars ($325.00) Correction of Error. be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the General Street Fund for the purpose of reimbursing the General Fund for warrant erroneously issued against the General Fund for General Street Fund expense.

REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL.
Austin, Texas, May 29, 1919.
The Council was called to order by Mayor Yett. Roll call showed all members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward.
The minutes of the last regular meeting, May 22nd, were read and unanimously adopted.
Councilman Graham moved the suspension of the regular order of business that the Ladies Committees might be heard. Motion prevailed by a vote of 5 yeas; no nays.
Mrs. Dave Tobin spoke in the interest of the Child Welfare League, asking that the City pay Fifty Dollars ($50.00), or one-half the salary of Miss Cruz, the Child Welfare Nurse.
Councilman Graham moved that the sum of Three Hundred and Fifty Dollars ($350.00) be appropriated for that purpose, to be paid at the rate of Fifty Dollars ($50.00) per month. Motion carried by a vote of 5 yeas; no nays.
The petition of the Magnolia Petroleum Company was read and upon motion of Councilman Ward the petition was referred to the City Attorney for his opinion and report back to the Council. The motion carried by a vote of 5 yeas; no nays.
Councilman Haynes moved that the unpaid balance of Five Dollars ($5.00) be remitted in each of the following numbered and styled cases: No. 13334 - -City of Austin vs. A.B.Tomlinson; No. 13335 - - " " " " " R.B. Thorp; No. 13336 - - " " " " " Cal Taylor; No. 13337 - - " " " " " A.J. Zilker,Jr.; No. 13338 - - " " " " " J.H. Jenkins; No. 13339 - - " " " " " W.C. Phillips; No. 13340 - - " " " " " J.B. Millsap.
Motion carried by a vote of 5 yeas; no nays.
The bond of J. R. Williams was approved and ordered filed.
The petition of property owners on East Sixth Street to have an alley in the rear of their properties paved was read and referred to Councilman Graham.
The petition of property owners on Baylor and West Ninth Streets was read and referred to Councilman Graham for further information.
The petition of Billy Ebner, asking permission to erect electric signs at certain places on Congress Avenue was read. Councilman Graham moved that the petition be granted. The motion carried by the
