REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL:
Austin, Texas, July 10, 1919.
The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward. Absent none. The Minutes of the last regular meeting were read and adopted by a vote of 5 ayes; no nays. The petition of Nick Linz to install a gasoline storage tank and make Nick Linz granted. certain repairs in the rear of No. 611 Congress Avenue, was granted upon Permit to the recommendation of C. L. Woodward, Chief of the Fire Department, and Install Gasoline J. E. Woody, City Fire Marshal, by the following vote: yeas, Mayor Yett, Tank &c Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward; nays, none. The petition of J. W. Ebner to install electric signs at several places on Congress Avenue, after investigation by W. L. Ayres, City Electrician, and upon his recommendation the petition was granted by a vote of 5 ayes, no nays. The petition of Messer & Hatcher to erect a gasoline filling station at No. 205 West Fifth Street was read and upon motion of Councilman Haynes was referred to the City Attorney for him to draw proper resolution. Motion prevailed by a vote of 5 ayes, no nays. Councilman Graham introduced the following resolution: '200 -:- RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS: Appropriated That the sum of Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) be and the same is U.S. Employment hereby appropriated out of the General Contingent Fund of the City of Agency Austin, Texas, and made payable, at the rate of Fifty Dollars ($50.00) per month, to the United States Employment Agency. The above resolution carried by a vote of 5 ayes; no nays. Monthly The monthly reports of J. D. Platt, City Marshal, C. L. Woodward, Reports Chief of the Fire Department, John E. Woody, Fire Marshal, C. M. Leonard, City Engineer, Mrs. R. C. Walker, Pure Food Inspector, Dr. A. A. Biebel, Meat and Dairy Inspector, and Secretary of the United Charities Association, were read and ordered filed. Councilman Alford, at the request of C. L. Woodward, Chief of the Fire Department, submitted the following named for positions in the Fire Department: (4 appointments) Alex Abramson, to be Lieutenant Hook & Ladder Company No. 1; Firemen W. L. Williams, to be Ladderman Hook & Ladder Company No. 1; James Pinget, to be Hoseman Hose Company No. 7. The above appointments were confirmed by a vote of 4 ayes, no nays, Councilman Alford present but not voting. The Council then adjourned.
