264 ----- REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL; Austin, Texas, October 09, 1919. The Council met at 10:00 o'clock, A. M. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilman Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward; absent, none. The Minutes of the last meeting were read and upon motion of Councilman Graham, the same were adopted by a vote of 5 ayes, no nays. The petition of Henry Johnson, et al., asking that the tracks of the Street Railway Company on Dam Boulevard be moved to the center of the street, was read, and upon motion of Councilman Alford, was referred to Councilman Graham by a vote of 5 ayes, no nays. The application of W. H. Thaxton for permission to make certain improvements on Block 19, #212 Congress Avenue, was granted by a vote of 5 ayes, no nays. The petition of J. M. Crawford, et al., asking that the City continue filling the ravine on South Congress Avenue, was read, and upon motion of Councilman Ward, was referred to the City Attorney; said motion carried by a vote of 5 ayes, no nays. Judge D. H. Doom appeared before the Council and asked that the property owners on West Fifth Street between Nueces and Rio Grande Streets be asked to appear on the 23rd day of October at a regular session of the City Council. AFTERNOON SESSION. The Council met with County Commissioners and Miss Nellie Hall, Secretary of the United Charities, and discussed donations to paupers. The property owners in the vicinity of East Twenty-third Street appeared before the Council, asking that certain improvements be made with regard to drainage, etc., on Trinity and Neches Streets. The Council, on behalf of the City, agreed to bear a proportionate part of the expense, provided the property owners would pay their share of the expense. The five applications of W. T. Patton to operate service cars were granted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward. The Council then recessed. RECESSED SESSION Austin, Texas, October 14th, 1919. The applications of Coy Iddleton and W. A. Rieger to operate service cars were granted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Haynes; absent, Councilmen Graham and Ward. The Council then adjourned.
