272 (Deliberation) (Wesley Fincher) (Gasoline Pump)
was read. The petition of Wesley Fincher to install a gasoline pump was read and on motion of Councilman Ward was referred to C. L. Woodward, Chief of the Fire Department, by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Haynes and Ward; nays, none, Councilman Graham absent. The Council then adjourned. Jno. REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, November 13, 1919.
The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Haynes and Ward, absent, Councilman Graham. The Minutes of the last regular meeting were read. Motion of Councilman Haynes, seconded by Councilman Ward for the adoption of the Minutes prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Haynes and Ward, nays, none, Councilman Graham absent. Councilman Haynes moved that the regular order of business be suspended and that the Committee be heard. W. H. Long and others then addressed the Council on behalf of property owners in the vicinity of West 33rd Street between Guadalupe and King Streets, asking that certain improvements be made in order to properly drain their properties. The Council agreed that relief would be furnished as soon as practicable. The petition of L. W. Sackett, et al., was presented and ordered filed. Howard McKenn appeared before the Council and asked that the date for the Worsham Shows be changed and permission be given for their shows to appear from November 24th to November 30th, inclusive. Councilman Haynes moved that the dates be changed, as requested. Motion pre- vailed by a vote of 4 ayes, no nays; Councilman Graham being absent. Resignation of The resignation of W. H. Grizzard, Motorcycle Policeman, was W. H. Grizzard read and accepted by a vote of 4 ayes, no nays, Councilman Graham Motorcycle Police absent. Mrs. Ethel Parsons appeared before the Council and made some very valuable suggestions as to the manner of conducting child welfare work. Mrs. W. H. Long and Miss Virginia Williams made short talks in the interest of the Young Women's Christian Association, making the endorsement and aid of the City Council in having the conference grounds located in Austin. Wesley Fincher Councilman Haynes moved that the application of Wesley Fincher Gasoline Pump to install a gasoline pump be granted upon the recommendation of C. L. Woodward, Chief of the Fire Department, to be erected under the supervision of the City Engineer and City Electrician. Motion carried by a vote of 4 ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Haynes and Ward, no nays, Councilman Graham being absent. The petition of Billy Fleener to erect certain electrical

273 signs, to be erected under the supervision of City Electrician and City Engineer. On motion of Councilman Ward, the petition was granted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Haynes and Ward, nays none, Councilman Graham being absent. Councilman Haynes introduced the following resolution: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the sum of One Hundred Twelve Dollars and Fifty Cents ($112.50) From Genl Fund $1.25 / 100 on Jury Tax Referred be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the General Contingent Fund of this city and directed to be transferred to the salary account of the Humane Officer in Department "A". For further information, see resolution adopted by the City Council March 27th, 1919. The above resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilman Alford, Haynes and Ward, nays, none, Councilman Graham being absent. The monthly reports of C. L. Woodward, Chief of the Fire Department J. W. Graham, Superintendent of Streets and Public Improvements, J. D. Platt, City Marshal, Miss Nellie Hall, Secretary of the United Charities, Read Reports. Miss Dorsey Spiller, Municipal Nurse, Dr. A. A. Siebel, Meat and Dairy Inspector, and Dr. S. A. Woolsey, City Health Officer, were read and ordered filed. Fred Sterzing, Assessor and Collector, filed statement giving estimated values of real estate and personal property for the year 1919. State- ment read and ordered filed. The Council then adjourned.
