283 Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none. W H Cunningham The written protest of W. H. Cunningham against the valuation placed by the Board of Equalization upon an Overland automobile owned by him was read. The Council by the following vote reduced the assessment to $100.00: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none. The Council then recessed. SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, December 6, 1919. The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford and Ward, absent, Councilmen Haynes and Graham. Councilman Alford laid before the Council the following resolution: Whereas, on the 4th day of November, 1919, in Cause #13778 in the Corporation Court of the City of Austin, Texas, Miss Stella Brown was convicted of fast driving of an automobile and fined in the amount of Twelve Dollars and Eighty Cents ($12.80); and Whereas, in consideration of the youth of the defendant and the further fact that the Council believes the young lady has been taught a lesson by her experience, Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: P. E. Blood Stela Brown That one-half of the fine and costs, amounting to Six Dollars and Forty Cents ($6.40) be and the same is hereby remitted and said amount be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the General Contingent Fund and the City Clerk is hereby instructed to draw warrant for said amount, being one-half of fine and costs. The above resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford and Ward, nays, none; Councilmen Graham and Haynes being absent. The Council then recessed. SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, December 8, 1919 The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; absent, none. Enfield Reality Murray Graham, on behalf of the Enfield Realty Company, appeared before the Council and protested against the valuation placed by the Board of Equalization upon certain lots in Enfield Addition. For good and sufficient reasons shown by said Murray Graham, Councilmen Haynes moved that the increase made by the Board of Equalization on said Enfield lots be reduced 50%. Motion carried by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5, nays, none. L A E Flack The written protest of Mrs. L. A. E. Flack against the assessment placed by the Board of Equalization upon lots 7, 8 and 9, in block 45, was read. The Council by the following vote reduced the valuation on this property to $5,000.00, but sustained the valuation placed by the Board of Equalization upon the Congress Avenue property: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen
