REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, December 11, 1919.
The Council met with all members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; absent, none. The Minutes of the last meetings were read and upon motion of Councilman Ward were adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none. Councilman Haynes moved that the regular order of business be suspended and that Mr. Chas. Alff be heard. Mr. Alff then appeared before the Council and asked that certain improvements be made on East 19th Street. The matter was referred to Councilman Graham by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none. The application of O. A. Newberg to erect a shed on Lot No. 6, Block No. 40 was heard. Councilman Haynes moved that application be referred to C. L. Woodward, Chief of the Fire Department, for report back to the Council. Motion carried by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none. Resignations The resignations of W. H. Brandt and S. E. Loney, members of the of W.H. Brandt & Police force, were read and upon motion of Councilman Haynes were accepted S.E. Loney by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes Police -- and Ward, 5; nays, none. A committee from the Chamber of Commerce, consisting of A. C. Goeth, W. E. Long, C. H. Millican, A. J. Eilers, T. H. Williams, W. H. Richardson, Jr. and A. T. Knies, appeared before the Council and asked that the Council consider the installation of a fire alarm system. The matter was taken under consideration. Protest of The protest of John A. Gracy of the Gracy Abstract Company against Jno. A. Gracy the valuation placed upon the property of the Gracy Abstract Company was heard. Councilman Haynes moved that the valuation of $10,000.00 fixed by the Board of Equalization be reduced to $6,000.00. Motion carried by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none. Claim of The claim of W. R. Canion for use of his dump wagons by Potts, Moore W. R. Canion and Prentice, Contractors for the Sewage Disposal Plant, was taken up for consideration and Councilman Graham moved that the claim, in the amount of $43.50, be allowed. Motion carried by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none. Reports The monthly reports of Mrs. R. C. Walker, Pure Food Inspector, J. D. Platt, City Marshal, A. S. Anderson, Public Weigher, J. E. Woody, Fire Marshal, and C. L. Woodward, Chief of the Fire Department, were read and ordered filed. The Council then adjourned. Jno.
