Austin, Texas, January 03, 1920.
The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; absent, none.
The following applications to operate service cars were read, and upon motion of Councilman Graham, seconded by Councilman Ward, were granted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none.
Johnnie Barber, Colored; Service Cars granted Licenses Rufus Wright (3) G. O. Morgan; Bennie Jefferson (Colored); J. L. Condit (3) Joe Oyervides (2);
The application of W. W. Boring to operate a service car was again W.W. Boring taken up, and after a hearing upon the same, Councilman Alford, seconded by granted Councilman Haynes, moved that the said W. W. Boring be granted a license to License operate a service car for a period of six months. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS: That the width of the roadway between curbs on Seventh Street between Baylor and Blanco Streets be and the same is hereby established at 28 feet; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:

That the south curb line of the said Seventh Street shall be located at a distance of thirteen feet (13') north of the existing south line of Seventh Street. REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, January 8, 1920. The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; absent, none. The Minutes of the last meetings were read, and upon motion of Councilman Haynes, were adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none. Councilman Alford moved that the regular order of business be suspended and that a committee, composed of J. A. Belger, A. G. Goeth and Leo Mueller, be heard. This committee presented petitions of the firemen and citizens of Austin, asking that the Council install a double platoon system in the Fire Department, to begin operation with the appropriations for the year 1920. After hearing the arguments favoring same, Councilman Haynes moved that the petition be received, filed and taken under consideration. Motion carried by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none. The referendum petition of Max Dietzel and others was presented by Judge U. H. Doom, relative to the sewer ordinance passed June 5th, 1919, by the City Council. Councilman Haynes moved that the referendum petition be referred to the City Attorney and City Clerk for their report back to the Council as to the sufficiency of same. Motion carried by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none. Councilman Alford nominated G. E. Martin to be Chief of Detectives.
