That the south curb line of the said Seventh Street shall be located at a distance of thirteen feet (13') north of the existing south line of Seventh Street. The above resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none. Councilman Graham moved that the Mayor be authorized to execute a bill Sale of City truck for authorized of sale to the Southwest Bitulithic Company of one white truck belonging to the City of Austin, for the sum of One Thousand, Five Hundred Dollars ($1,500.00). Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none. The Council then recessed.
SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, January 5, 1920.
Applications Service Cars granted The Council met with the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Haynes and Ward, absent, Councilmen Alford and Graham. The applications of S. J. Lock, Joe Oyervides and Howard Clemons to operate service cars were granted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Haynes and Ward; absent, Councilmen Alford and Graham. The Council then adjourned.
REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, January 8, 1920. The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; absent, none. The Minutes of the last meetings were read, and upon motion of Councilman Haynes, were adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none. Councilman Alford moved that the regular order of business be suspended and that a committee, composed of J. A. Helger, A. G. Goeth and Leo Mueller, Firemen's Petition for Double Platoon System be heard. This committee presented petitions of the firemen and citizens of Austin, asking that the Council install a double platoon system in the Fire Department, to begin operation with the appropriations for the year 1920. After hearing the arguments favoring same, Councilman Haynes moved that the petition be received, filed and taken under consideration. Motion carried by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none. The referendum petition of Max Dietzel and others was presented by Referendum Petition for Sewer Ordinance Referred to City Atty. & Clerk Judge D. H. Doom, relative to the sewer ordinance passed June 5th, 1919, by the City Council. Councilman Haynes moved that the referendum petition be referred to the City Attorney and City Clerk for their report back to the Council as to the sufficiency of same. Motion carried by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none. Chief of Detectives appointed Councilman Alford nominated G. E. Martin to be Chief of Detectives. Nomination was confirmed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Graham, Haynes and Ward, 4, nays, none, Councilman Alford present but not voting.
