296 REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, January 15, 1920. The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; absent, none. After the reading of the Minutes of the last meetings, Councilman Haynes moved the adoption of the same. Motion carried by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward; 5, nays, none. The application of Isaiah Jones to operate a service car was granted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward; 5, nays, none. Seton Infirmary Exemption for Taxes Year 1919. The statement of Thos. F. Taylor, Agent of Seton Infirmary, with reference to the taxation of the property claimed by Seton Infirmary at the corner of 27th and Nueces Streets in the City of Austin, together with the opinion of J. Bouldin Rector, City Attorney, was read and ordered filed. Councilman Graham then moved that said property of the Seton Infirmary be exempt from taxation for the year 1919. Motion carried by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward; 5 , nays, none. R. W. Potter Motorcycle Police. Councilman Alford nominated R. W. Potter to be motorcycle policeman to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of S. H. Loney. Nomination was confirmed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Graham , Haynes and Ward, 4; nays, none, Councilman Alford present but not voting. The communication of E. E. Bramlette was read and referred to Councilman Graham. Additions St 108 W 5th. Upon the recommendation of C. L. Woodward, Chief of the Fire Department, the application of R. C. Lambie to erect a galvanized iron shed on his property at #108 West 5th Street was granted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none. The following reports for the month of December were read and ordered filed: C. L. Woodward, Chief of the Fire Department; Miss Nellie M. Hall, Secretary of the United Charities; Dr. A. A. Biebel, Inspector of Dairies and Markets; Mrs. R. C. Walker, Pure Food Inspector. The following reports for the year 1919 were read and ordered filed; J. W. Graham, Superintendent of Streets and Public Improvements; Miss Nellie M. Hall, Secretary of the United Charities; C. L. Woodward, Chief of the Fire Department; J. E. Woody, Fire Marshal; Jas. H. Maxwell, Sealer of Weights and Measures; Miss Dorsey Spiller, Public Health Nurse; A. Y. McWright, Sanitary Inspector; The Council then recessed.
