303 and Be it further resolved that the salaries of the various officials and employes, as same appear in the proposed General Budget this day presented to the Council by the Mayor, and the wages of the employes as shown by the payrolls of the various departments, be and the same are hereby declared to be the salaries and wages for said officials and employes for the month of January, 1920. The above resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none. The Council then adjourned. Jas. Hamley City Clerk.
REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL:
Austin, Texas, February 5th, 1920; The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present : Mayor Yett, Councilman Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward; absent, none. The minutes of the last meetings were read and upon motion of Councilman Haynes were adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Council- man Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays none. Councilman Haynes move that the regular order of business be suspended and Mr. A.O. Watson be heard. A.O. Watson appeared before the Council in connection with the curbing at the S.W. Corner of West 6th and Lavaca Streets. Councilman Ward moved that the matter be referred to Councilman Graham with full power to act in the premises. Motion was adopted by the following vote Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward. W.L. Ayres appeared and asked permission to put in curbing at his place of business situated at the corner of West 6th and Lavaca Streets. Permission was granted provided the work be done under the supervision of the City Engineer. Motion carried by the following vote, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward. The Monthly Reports of the following named were read and ordered filed Fred Sterzing Assessor and Collector; A.B. Anderson Public Weigher; Miss Dorsey Spiller Municipal Nurse, and Mrs. R.C. Walker Pure Food Inspector. Councilman Haynes introduced the following Resolution:
RESOLUTION. Whereas. The Board of Equalization through error raised the valuation of improvements on the West two-thirds of lot 6, in Block 87 from $900 to $1500.00 for taxes of 1919, as per the statement of Mr. James Belger President of the Board herewith attached. Therefore be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin that the Assessor and Collector be and he is hereby authorized to correct said assessment making same $900 and to take credit for amount of reduction. Austin, 2/4/20. Hon. H.L. Haynes, Comm. Finance and Accounts. In the matter of assessment of Mrs. Marie Gross Estate, the Board of equalization erronously increased the value of Improvements on the W 2/3 of lot 6 in Block 87 from $900 to $1500. We lost sight of the age of said Improvements and failed then to conform to Improvement of recent construction on lot in the immediate neighborhood. James Belger, Pres. Board. The above Resolution was adopted by the following vote, Mayor Yett, Councilman Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward. The Mayor submitted the budget of 1920 to the Council for their approval. Councilman Haynes moved that the Budget be approved which was accordingly done by the following vote, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward. The communication of Robinson Brothers, compressed between fourth and fifth streets on East Avenue. Councilman Alford moved that communication be referred to C.L. Woodward, Chief of the Fire Department, and J.E. Woody Fire Marshall for their report back to the City Council. Motion carried by the following vote, Mayor Yett, Councilman Graham, Alford, Haynes and Ward.

Austin, Texas, February 6, 1920. To the Honorable Members of the City Council. City of Austin, Texas. Gentlemen: I do hereby call a special meeting of the City Council to be convened in the Council Chamber at eleven o'clock A.M. Feby. 6th, 1920, for the purpose of considering resolutions with reference to ordering in sidewalks and curbs on the following streets, vis: Rio Grande Street between Sixth and Twenty-Seventh Streets. North Congress Ave.- Fourteenth to Nineteenth. Guadalupe Street - 19th to 27th Street. Twenty-first Street-Speedway and Guadalupe Street. Wichita Street-19th to 21st Street. Speedway-19 to 21st Street. West Sixth Street-Blanco to Crockett Street Sixteenth Street-Guadalupe to Sabine Street.
