311 REGULAR SESSION OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, February 19, 1920. Council met at 10:00 A.M. Mayor ordered Roll Call, the following answered present, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward. Councilman Haynes, seconded by Councilman Graham, moved that the reading of the minute of the last meetings be suspended until the next regular meeting of the City Council. Motion carried by the following vote, Mayor Yett, Councilman Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward. Councilman Alford seconded by Councilman Ward moved that the reResignation of Dr. S.A. Woolsey accepted signation of Dr. S.A. Woolsey, City Physician be accepted, effective March 1st, 1920. The resignation was accepted by the following vote, Mayor Yett, Councilman Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward. Councilman Alford seconded by Councilman Ward, nominated C.H. Dr. C.H. Brownlee appointed City Health Officer Brownlee AS HE CITY HEALTH PHYSICIAN, to be in effect March 1st, 1920. Nomination was confirmed by the following vote, Mayor Yett, Councilman Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5 ayes, no Nays. Councilman Alford present but not voting. Application of James E. Ryans to Operate a Service Car for a Period of six months ending July 1st, 1920, was granted by the following vote, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward. The application of Chester Schacht and Sidney Scott to Operate Service cars were granted, by the following vote, Mayor Yett, Councilman Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward. Councilman Graham introduced the following resolution. RESOLUTION Resolution rejecting all bids for the Paving of Alley between 4th Rejection of Bids and 5th Sts. from Colorado to Lavaca streets. Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas:That all bids recieved for the paving of the alley between 4th and 5th sts from Colorado to Lavaca streets and the same are hereby rejected. Further that the City Clerk be and he is hereby instructed to return said bids and certified checks to the respective bidders. The above resolution was adopted by the following vote, Mayor Yett, Councilman Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward. 5 Ayes , No. Nayes. Councilman Graham introduced the following resolution. RESOLUTION Resolution Repealing Resolution ordering of paving of alley between 4th and 5th sts. from Colorado to Lavaca Streets. Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas :That the resolution heretofore passed by the City Council ordering the paving of the alley between 4th and 5th sts and carrying with it the instructions to the Supt. of Streets and Public Imp. to advertise for bids, be and is --- Page break --- 312 hereby rejected. Adopted this the 19th day of February, 1920. Approved this the 19th day of February, 1920. W.D. Yett, Mayor. The Council then adjourned. Council approved Josh Hornsby City Clerk. REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, February 26, 1920. The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; absent, none. The Minutes of the last meeting were read and adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward; 5, nays, none. Council granted Councilman Graham moved that the application of the Alamo Industries Alamo Industries Company to construct a fire-proof shed in the rear of No. 300 Congress Permit. Avenue be granted, said building to be erected under the supervision of the City Engineer and the Fire Marshal. Motion carried by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none. Remitted $4.50 Councilman Alford moved that one-half, or $4.50, of the pound fees J.H. Upton amounting to $9.00, charged against J. H. Upton be remitted. Motion carried by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none. Councilman Ward introduced the following resolution: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the position of all time painter, at a salary of One Hundred Council created & Dollars ($100.00) per month, be and the same is hereby created and that the appropriated for sum of Eleven Hundred Dollars ($1100.00) is hereby appropriated out of the Painter. Earnings Fund of the Water, Light and Power Department to pay said salary. The above resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none. Council Accepted Councilman Ward moved that the verbal resignation of W. J. Tyres, Resignation of W. J. Tyres. City Electrician, be accepted. Motion carried by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward; 5, nays, none. Council Appointed Councilman Ward then nominated P. R. Mitchell to be City Electrician, P. R. Mitchell City his appointment to be effective February, 1920. Nomination was confirmed Electrician. by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham and Haynes; 4, nays, none. Councilman Ward present but not voting.
