REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, April 8, 1920. The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; absent, none. The Minutes of the last meeting were read and adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none. The matter of the application of the Columbian Refining Company to erect a canopy on South Congress Avenue was taken up and upon motion of Councilman Haynes, action upon same was deferred. The petition of the Bergstrom Auto Company for the erection of a gasoline pump on West Fifth Street was referred to the City Attorney and Chief of the Fire Department by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none. Councilman Haynes introduced the following resolution: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That whereas, the Board of Equalization, as per statement attached hereto, has requested that the valuation of 125X200 feet of the unplatted part of Hyde Park No. 2, assessed by Mrs. Von Boeckmann for $1,200.00 in error, be reduced to $960.00 on account of a branch running through said property, making it subject to overflow. Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the Assessor and Collector be authorized to make such correction and to take credit for the difference upon his books. The above resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none. Councilman Alford introduced the following resolution: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That for good and sufficient causes unto the City Council shown, one-half of the fine and costs, amounting to Twelve Dollars and Eighty Cents ($12.80), assessed against Bert Anderson in Cause No. 14071 in the Corporation Court of the City of Austin, Texas, on the 22nd day of March, 1920, for the offence of fast driving of an automobile, be and the same is hereby remitted, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the sum of Six Dollars and Forty Cents ($6.40), or onehalf of the above fine and costs, be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the General Contingent Fund of the City of Austin, Texas, and made payable to the said Bert Anderson.

Upon the recommendation of C. E. Leonard, City Engineer, and C. L. Woodward, Chief of the Fire Department, the application of B. H. Williams, Agent for the Gulf Refining Company, to erect certain structures at the intersection of Chicon Street with East Fifth Street, extending 454 feet on Fifth Street and 138 feet on Chicon Street, for the purpose of selling and distributing in wholesale quantities petroleum and its products, was granted by the following vote: Ayes, App. of Gulf Refg. Comte, Agent for the Grey Burg Oil Company of San Antonio, Texas, for permission to erect a gasoline filling station at the intersection of Congress Avenue and First Street, on Lot 1, Block 5, was granted , with the understanding that same was to be erected under the supervision of the City Engineer and Chief of the Fire Department, by the following vote; Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Haynes and Ward, 4; nays, none, Councilman Graham absent. The application of Frank J.
