SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: AUSTIN, TEXAS. April 15, 1920.
The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Haynes and Ward, 4; absent, Councilman Graham.
The application of Frank J. Comte, Agent for the Grey Burg Oil Company of San Antonio, Texas, for permission to erect a gasoline filling station at the intersection of Congress Avenue and First Street, on Lot 1, Block 5, was granted, with the understanding that same was to be erected under the supervision of the City Engineer and Chief of the Fire Department, by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Haynes and Ward, 4; nays, none, Councilman Graham absent.
The application of Frank J. The matter of opening the alley in Block No. 2 was taken up and Councilman Graham moved that same be referred to the City Attorney and City Engineer for their report back to the Council. The petition of A. D. Richardson and others complaining of the lights on College Heights was referred to Councilman Ward, by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none.
The petition of the office employes for a half holiday on Saturdays was read and Councilman Haynes moved that half holiday on Saturdays begin June 1st and continue until October 1st. Motion carried by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none.
Upon the recommendation of the City Engineer, C. E. Leonard, the petition of the Bergstrom Auto Company to install a curb gasoline pump at No. 127 West Fifth Street was granted by the following vote: Ayes,

The application of Pleas Bryant to operate a service car was granted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none.
Aug. Oertli & Fred Everett Fireman Upon the recommendation of C. L. Woodward, Chief of the Fire Department, Councilman Alford nominated August Oertli and Fred Everett to be hosemen in the Fire Department of the City of Austin to succeed F. A. Peterson and Henry Oertli , resigned. Nomination was confirmed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Graham, Haynes and Ward, 4; nays, none. Councilman Alford present but not voting.
Auditor's monthly Report The report of Milton Morris, Auditor, of warrants issued during the month of March, 1920, against the several funds of the City was read and ordered filed. The financial report of J. A. Warren, Bookkeeper and Cashier of the Street and Sewer Department, was read and ordered filed.
Officer's monthly Reports The following reports for March were read and ordered filed: J. D. Platt, City Marshal; C. L. Woodward, Chief of the Fire Department; Miss Nellie M. The minutes of the last meeting were read and upon motion of Councilman Haynes, were adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none. Councilman Haynes moved that the regular order of business be suspended and that a committee be heard. A. O. Goeth and others then addressed the Council, asking that State Street leading to Camp Mabry be put in good condition. The matter was referred to Councilman Graham for his consideration. The applications of A. H. Poole and Rhambo & Woodward to operate service cars were granted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none. Upon the recommendation of C. L.
