338 Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none. The petition of Mrs. F. S. Casper and others, recommending that all dog owners be required to confine dogs to their private premises, was read and action upon same was deferred, by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none. The application of Pleas Bryant to operate a service car was granted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none. Upon the recommendation of C. L. Woodward, Chief of the Fire DeAug. 22. Firemen- partment, Councilman Alford nominated August Oertli and Fred Everett to be firemen in the Fire Department of the City of Austin to succeed F. A. Peterson and Henry Oertli, resigned. Nomination was confirmed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Graham, Haynes and Ward, 4; nays, none. Councilman Alford present but not voting. Auditor's Monthly The report of Milton Morris, Auditor, of warrants issued during Report- the month of March, 1920, against the several funds of the City was read and ordered filed. The financial report of J. A. Warren, Bookkeeper and Cashier of the Street and Sewer Department, was read and ordered filed. The following reports for March were read and ordered filed: Reports for March J. D. Platt, City Marshal; C. L. Woodward, Chief of the Fire Department Miss Nellie M. Hall, Secretary of the United Charities Association; Mrs. R. C. Walker, Pure Food Inspector; Mrs. E. Schulz, Superintendent of Nurses of City Hospital; J. D. Platt, City Marshal, Animals Impounded; The Council then adjourned. Jas. W. Hornsby City Clerk. REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, April 22, 1920. The following answered present:Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; absent, none. The Council was called to order by the Mayor.^ The minutes of the last meeting were read and upon motion of Councilman Haynes, were adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none. Councilman Haynes moved that the regular order of business be suspended and that a committee be heard. A. C. Goeth and others then addressed the Council, asking that State Street leading to Camp Mabry be put in good condition. The matter was referred to Councilman Graham for his consideration. The applications of A. H. Poole and Rhambo & Woodward to operate service cars were granted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none. Upon the recommendation of C. L. Woodward, Chief of the Fire Department, permission was granted to the Columbia Oil Company to install gasoline tanks at their filling station at Sixth and Waller Streets, by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none. The Council then recessed. --- Page break --- 339 SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: AUSTIN, TEXAS, APRIL 26, 1920. The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; absent, none. Upon motion of Councilman Ward, L. A. Palmer, Plumbing Inspector, was instructed and empowered to act in conjunction with the City Engineer and Fire Marshal in the inspection of all oil tanks in the City of Austin which may hereafter be installed, by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none. The Council then adjourned. REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, April 29th, 1920. The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; absent, none. The Minutes of the last meeting were read, and upon motion of Councilman Ward, the same were adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5, nays, none. Councilman Haynes moved that the regular order of business be suspended and that a committee be heard. Motion carried by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none. L. D. Lyons, colored, and others then appeared before the Council, asking that the city set aside a plot of ground as a burial ground for the colored population of this city. Upon the recommendation of C. L. Woodward, Chief of the Fire Department, the petition of Bohn Bros. for permission to erect a corrugated iron shed in the rear of #517 Congress Avenue was granted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward,5; nays, none. Councilman Haynes introduced the following resolution: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the sum of One Hundred Seventy-nine Dollars and Forty-four Cents ($179.44) be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the General Contingent fund of the City of Austin, Texas, in payment of the amount due and owing by the City Assessor and Collector for the School Fund's share of interest and penalties collected on taxes during the months of January, February and March, 1920, and said amount is hereby made payable to the Treasurer of the Austin Public Schools; itemized statements of amounts under this appropriation being attached hereto, same being certified as correct by Fred Sterzing, Assessor and Collector, and made the basis of this resolution. The above resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none.
