344 The resignation of Joe Amstead, Motorcycle Policeman, was accepted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Pro tem Haynes, Councilmen Alford, Graham and Ward, 4; nays, none, Mayor Yett absent. The following communication from Mrs. J. M. Loving, President of the Public Health Nursing Association, was read and ordered filed: "Austin, Texas, May 17, 1920.
To the Honorable Mayor and City Council, City of Austin, Texas. Gentlemen: This is to notify you that Miss Jane Duffy has been appointed Supervising Nurse to succeed Mrs. Marie Blakely, resigned; said appointment becoming effective April 1st, 1920. Respectfully, (Sgd) Mrs. James M. Loving, President Public Health Nursing Asso- ciation."
The Council then recessed.
SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL:
Austin, Texas, May 19, 1920. The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll called showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; absent, none. Councilman Graham moved that it be the sense of the City Council that the rates of fare as stated in the draft of an ordinance heretofore submitted by the City Attorney be fixed as the fares to be charged for transportation of passengers by the Austin Street Railway Company and all street railways within the limits of the City of Austin, and the City Attorney be instructed to draft a final ordinance on the subject. Motion carried by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham and Ward, nays, Councilman Haynes. The Council then adjourned.
