350 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the Assessor and Collector be and he is hereby authorized to cancel said assessment on his rolls and to take credit therefor. The above resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none. The following communication from W. J. Jones, President Austin Street Railway Company, was read and ordered recorded:
"Austin, Texas, May 31st, 1920.
TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: The Austin Street Railway Company, acting herein by and through its President and General Manager, W. J. Jones, thereunto duly authorized by the Board of Directors of said Company, hereby agrees that it and its successors will pay the financial obligations imposed upon it by Section 4 of the Ordinance authorizing the increased rate of fare to be charged by said Austin Street Railway Company, passed and approved May 20th, 1920. Austin Street Railway Company, By (Sgd) W. J. Jones, President and General Manager. Attest: (Sgd) D. A. Bush, Secretary.

Councilman Haynes moved that the management of the Austin Street Railway Company be requested to enforce the City Ordinance and State law governing separate compartments for white and colored passengers. Motion carried by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none. The communication from L. A. Palmer, Plumbing Inspector, C. E. Leonard, City Engineer, and C. L. Woodward, Chief of the Fire Department, in regard to the regulation of the storage of gasoline, etc., was read and ordered filed. The monthly report of A. S. Anderson, Public Weigher, was read and ordered filed. The Council then recessed.
SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL:
Austin, Texas, June 7, 1920. The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; absent, none. Councilman Ward moved that Councilman Alford be authorized to purchase an automobile for $650.00 for use of the Detective Department, and that same be charged to the miscellaneous fund of the Department of Police and Public Safety. Motion carried by following vote:Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nays, none. The Council then adjourned. Jno. Hornsby City Clerk
