REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: 373 Austin, Texas, September 30, 1920.
The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; absent, none. The Minutes of the last meeting were read and adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nayes, none. Councilman Ward moved that the regular order of business be suspended. Motion carried by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nayes, none. The application of O. T. Childress to operate a service car was then taken up and after a discussion of same, Judge Houghton Brownlee, Attorney for applicant, appeared before the Council and withdrew said application. Adolph Schutze and C. Jaeger appeared before the Council in regard to certain sewer connections having been made. Upon motion of Councilman Ward, the matter was referred to the Superintendent of Streets and Public Improvements, with instructions to settle same for the amount of Twenty-five Dollars ($25.00), by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nayes, none. Councilman Alford nominated L. E. Loden as patrolman in the Police Department of the City of Austin. Nomination was confirmed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Graham, Haynes and Ward, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Alford not voting. The resignation of A.S.Bowles as a policeman was accepted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nayes, none. The petition of B. F. Fox and others, asking that a light be installed at the corner of Rosewood Avenue and Chicon Street, was referred to Councilman Ward by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nayes, none. The report of Dr. A.A. Biebel, Meat and Dairy Inspector, was read and ordered filed. The ordinance entitled, "An Ordinance Amending Title II, Chapter IV, Article 34 of the Revised Ordinances of the City of Austin, Relating to the Keeping of Hogs within the City Limits", was placed upon its third reading and final passage by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nayes, none. The Council then recessed.
