384 SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, November 26, 1920. The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; absent, none. A. T. Knies and Judge Chas. A. Wilcox appeared before the Council and presented a statement as to the business of the Austin Gas Light Company, and after a discussion of the same, the report was received and ordered filed and Councilman Graham moved that the matter of an increase in gas rates be taken under advisement. Motion carried by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nayes, none. The Council then adjourned. The report of the City Attorney as to the claim of Lawrence Sellers for damages to his car by a fire truck was received and ordered filed. Prof. J. H. Bryant, Frank E. Taylor and J. B. Webb were appointed a committee to make an investigation in regard to the proposal of the Austin Gas Light Company to raise rates in the City of Austin. The resignation of W. A. Meredith as a motorcycle policeman was presented to the City Council and upon motion of Councilmen Alford was accepted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nayes, none.
