REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL:
Austin, Texas, December 23, 1920.
The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5;absent, none.
The minutes of the last meeting were read and upon motion of Councilman Haynes were adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nayes, none.
The application of the Delman Shows to exhibit in Austin for one week was declined on account of the games of chance connected with said shows, by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nayes, none.
The communication of L. D. Lyons and others, requesting that a cemetery for the colored citizens of Austin be located , was read and the Mayor was authorized to reply to such communication, which was accordingly done.
The monthly reports of C. L. Woodward, Chief of the Fire Department, and Dr. A. A. Biebel, Meat and Dairy Inspector, were read and ordered filed.
The Mayor introduced the following ordinance: "AN ORDINANCE ORDERING AN ELECTION TO OBTAIN THE CONSENT OF THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN, TEXAS, WHO PAY TAXES ON PROPERTY WITHIN THE LIMITS OF SAID CITY, TO THE ISSUANCE OF BONDS BY THE CITY COUNCIL, FOR THE PURPOSES OF:
(1) THE EXTENSION OF THE SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM; (2) THE EXTENSION AND BETTERMENTS OF THE SEWAGE DISPOSAL PLANT; (3) THE PERMANENT IMPROVEMENT OF THE STREETS; (4) THE ERECTION OF BRIDGES; (5) THE CONSTRUCTION OF A GARBAGE INCINERATOR; and (6) THE CONSTRUCTION OF A MUNICIPAL SWIMMING POOL. "
The ordinance was read the first time and Councilman Ward moved that the rule be suspended and the ordinance placed on its second reading. Motion carried by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nayes, none.
The ordinance was read the second time and Councilman Ward moved that the rule be further suspended and the ordinance placed on its third reading and final passage. Motion carried by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nayes, none.
The ordinance was read the third time and adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nayes, none.
The Council then adjourned.
