442 SPECIAL LETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Auntin, Texan, March 201221 The Council met with the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmon Alford, Graham and Haynes, 4; absent. Councilman Ward. The Mayor moved that the City Clerk be instructed to have a set of election boxes made, Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham and Haynes, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Ward absent. The Council then adjourned. Jarsfornby Bily Blerk REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, March 31, 1921, The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; absent, none. The Minutes of the last meeting were read and upon motion of Councilman Haynes were adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nayes, none, Councilman Alford moved that the regular order of business be suspended and that a committee be heard. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nayes, none. Geo. S. Dowell, Attorney representing G. L. Cunningham, Agent for the C&E Tire Company, appeared before the Council and asked that they be allowed to install a gasoline pump at #108 West 5th Street. Councilman Graham moved that this matter be re-submitted to the Board composed of C. E. Leonard, City Engineer, L. A. Palmer, Plumbing Inspector, and C. L. Woodward, Chief of the Fire Department, for their report back to the Council. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Alford, Graham, Haynes and Ward, 5; nayes, none. The Council then recessed. AFTERNOON SESSION: The following report from the Board in control of Inspection of Gasoline Pumps, submitted the following communication: To the Honorable W. D. Yett, Mayor, and City Council, City of Austin, Texas, Gentlemen: "Austin, Texas, March 31,1921. We, your Board in control of the inspection of gasoline pumps, filling stations, etc., beg leave to report that the city ordinance should be amended so as to permit the installation of any standard pump that has the stamp of approval of the National Board of Fire Underwriters, and in reference to the particular application of G. L. Cunningham, 108 West 5th Street, we recommend that same be granted. -- i
