  • The new administration immediately appointed numerous key leadership and staff positions across all city departments, from legal and finance to public works and health.
  • A significant focus was placed on public safety, with the appointment of a new City Marshal (Chief of Police), a substantial number of police officers, and the entire Fire Department roster.
  • In a notable policy decision, the council voted to change "Wooldridge Park Roadway" back to its historic name, "Dam Boulevard," and also set new weekly meeting times for regular sessions.

453 description of their various premises which abutted on said roadway in that all of said descriptions refer to Dam Boulevard; and Whereas, for the reasons above stated and with no desire to detract from the value of former Mayor Wooldridge's public services, but with a feeling that appropriate memorials have already been expressed in commemoration thereof, it is deemed expedient that said roadway be changed back to the name by which it has been known for so many years, Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the public roadway from the International & Great Northern Railway crossing from the western extension of West Sixth Street to the site of the Austin Dam in the City of Austin be and the same is hereby named and shall hereafter be perpetually known and called Dam Boulevard and the resolution of the City Council passed on April 3, 1919, as aforesaid, be and the same is hereby expressly repealed. Henry Faulk, Attorney, then appeared before the Council and presented a petition signed by C. L. Joyce, et al., asking that the City Council enact an ordinance regulating service cars. Councilman Haynes moved that the petition be referred to the City Attorney and the Superintendent of Police and Public Safety.
