464 i REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, May 26, 1921. The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; absent, none. The Minutes of the last meeting were read and upon motion of Councilman Haynes were adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The Council instructed J. Bouldin Rector, City Attorney, to prepare a resolution granting a reduction in the value of the J. V.Hume property. Councilman Haynes introduced the following resolution: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the office employees of the City of Austin be allowed one-half Saturday holidays (from 12:00 of clock noon), beginning June 1st and ending October lst, 1921, same as last year. The above resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; nayes, none, The application of Billy Ebner to erect an electric sign at the corner of 5th and Lavaca Streets and the American Cafe, corner 3rd Street and Congress Avenue, having been approved by P. R. Mitchell, City Electrician, was granted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; nayes, none. Councilman Searight nominated W. R. Davis as assistant bookkeeper in the sewer Earnings Department to succeed H. B. Claggett, resigned, Nomination was confirmed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres and Haynes, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Searight not voting. The resignation of Eugene T. Smith as Cashier of the Water, Light and Power Department was read and upon motion of Councilman Haynes was accepted, effective May 31st, 1921, by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; nayes, none, The Council then recessed, SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, May 31, 1921, The Council was called to order by the Mayor. City Attorney reported that he had investigated the bond market and found that owing to the condition of same, he believed the hospital bonds recently voted, if sold now, would not bring more than 93 cents, which would entail a loss of about $2,000.00 to the City. He suggested that it be ascertained what hospital repairs are now necessary and arrangements made with a contractor to accept the bonds at the quotation in force at the date of
