468 SPECIAL MERTING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, June 16, 1921. The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present; Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Bearight, 5; nayes, none. The following resolution was laid before the Council: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUSTIN: That the resolution passed by the City Council on June 9, 1921, instructing the City Assessor and Collector of Taxes to place on the exemp- tion rolls all property purchased by the Board of Regents at the time of purchase, and to collect taxes on such property only for the period of time held by the private owner, be and the same is hereby rescinded. The above resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The Council then adjourned. " REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: Austin, Texas, June 16, 1921, The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Haynes and Searight; 4 absent, Councilman Eyres. The Minutes of the last meetings were read and upon motion of Councilman Haynes were adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Haynes and Searight, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Eyres absent. The application of the Gulf Refining Company to erect an electric sign at #107-109 Congress Avenue upon motion of Councilman Haynes, was granted by the following vote, same to be erected under the supervision of the City Engineer, and City Electrician; Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Haynes and Searight, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Fyres absent. A petition signed by Henry Johnson and other property owners on the north side of the Dam Boulevard, requesting that the curb line be established the same as on the south side of the Boulevard, and that the tracks of the Austin Street Railway Company be moved to the center of the Boulevard, was read and Councilman Haynes moved that the petition be referred to the Street Commissioner and City Engineer for their report back to the Council, Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Haynes and Searight, 4; nayes, none, Councilman Eyres absent. A committee of the water engineers investigating the water supply of the city was heard, said committee offering the services and any other assistance that the University of Texas may be able to furnish free of charge. The report of the Special Committee appointed by the President of the Hospital Advisory Board was submitted. Councilman Haynes moved that 1 the Committee be instructed to prepare specifications and submit same to the architects and report back to the City Council as early as possible. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Hyres Haynes and Searight, 5; nayes, none. Counci Iman Haynes moved that the sewer charges against the Young Women's Christian Association, located at 1908-607 Brazos Street, be cancelled and the same be placed on the free list on account of being a charitable institution. Motion prevailed by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The application of B. F. Wright to install a gasoline tank at #1710 South Congress Avenue was read and upon motion of Councilman Eyres, same was granted, with the understanding that it should be erected under the supervision of the City Engineer, City Electrician and City Fire Marshal, by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; nayes, none, Mr. Otting appeared before the Council and asked permission to give a dance at the Deep Eddy Dance pavillion on Sunday evening, June 19th, 1921, for the entertainment of the National Guard, Request was declined by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; nayes, none, The monthly reports of W. A. Alff, City Sexton, Miss Nellie E. Hall, Secretary of the United Charities Association and James H. Maxwell, Sealer of Weights and Measures, were read and ordered filed. The application of James Ryan to operate Hupmobile #32756 as a service car was granted by the following vote: Ayes, Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Searight, 5; nayes, none. The Council then recessed, APECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: 1 Austin, Texas, June 22, 1921. The Council was called to order by the Mayor. Roll call showed the following members present: Mayor Yett, Councilmen Copeland, Eyres, Haynes and Soaright, 5; absent, none. A committee, composed of W. D, Hart and others, appeared before the Council and asked the intention of the Council in regard to free sewerage. W. D. Hart as attorney for D. A. Gregg, appeared before the Council and asked that some action be taken upon the claim of the said D. A. Gregg for certain property damage on Shoal Creek. .D. Hart, attorney for Hiss Hary Johnson, appeared before the Council and asked that the Council take some action with reference to the encroachment of W. E. Dozier upon Atlanta Avenue.
